Deaftonewonder.....glad you sorted this one. I have exactly the same symptoms. Do you recall what part was called or a part number?

Still very intermittent and sometimes activates when its parked up, but same as you described...alarm sounds, no horn, lights on and it cuts out.

Hurry before I get the junior hacksaw out.

wow, great intro, and good bit of thread necromancy...

Doubt you'll get a reply tho, deftone wonder hasnt graced this board since July last year.

Bugger...thanks for that. I will just have to dive in and rip it out.

Please excuse the lack of intro..sitting in a flooded house with pumps for three weeks and drinking whisky to pass the time has rather addled my brain.

15 yrs Land Rover owner and would buy another tomorrow if I had the money. Currently looking at digging the floor up first though. :D

cheers m8!

just wish i'd spotted it before id done this;

and wish id noticed it while it was like it!;

OK I have exactly the same problem - been trawling websites for weeks trying to find the problem ... same issue turn the lights on alarm sounds

been intermittent for month on and off .. now its stopped completely!

my TD5 has air con ... so ... hows the best way to get to this plug ... without having to strip out the aircon shelf :(

would be in the most inaccesible stop eh!

:mad:

funnily enough I fixed two other annoying faults this week .. so this is the last one ... not sure how to tackle the dash board removal so I dont end up with spaghetti!!!

I have the new style centre radio console too ... just to add to the fun!

thanks

Simon

well .. I took off the dash board top strip

removed the radio console and the first plastic tray underneath

that was enough to see the main wiring loom

pulled it up .. looked fine

then saw the 2 blue headers

looked ok until I turned one over ... brown spot in a corner!!!

ahhhh ha!

bent the pins back and cleaned them slightly and bingo!

lights ... no alarm!

NOW .....

the plugs real hard to get to .... what wires join each other

and whats the best way to fix this

If I move that metal plate under the plastic one thats held down by a bunch of self tappers would I be able to get to the header easier to actually remove it

So far I am really struggling as the fuse panel wont let the loom come up further - remember I have aircon so removing the aircon tray is really a no no ... id have to degas etc etc

maybe I can join the offending wire outside of the plug?

Just really hard to work inside that space

Thoughts??

thanks ... and yipee I found the issue and partly fixed it but want a permanent fix!

Cheers

Simon :cool:
