Hi,

After posting the other day that I've not found any issues on my 2004 l322 I've found one small issue, that isn't causing me a problem at the minute but when the winter comes it would be good to have it fixed.

The other morning was quite frosty and I put on the heated windscreen, unfortunately only the passenger side cleared, it was a perfect line between cleared / not cleared, so I don't think it's a break in the filament. I've checked the fuse in the passenger side box and that's fine (30A fuse), I've also checked the engine bay fuse box (group of 5 x 30A fuses - 3 in use, 2 spare - if this is the right thing I'm looking at? - it may not be) and they are all fine too. I've read about the relay, but I can't see that been an issue as one relay feeds both side of the screen and one works?

It would be good if someone could give me a few tips what to check next, I'm more than happy to do continuity tests / test resistance etc. just some pointers where to start would help. Apologies if this has been raised before, when I try searching the forum it just says "Search cannot be completed"

Chris, have you checked the connections at the bottom of the screen?
I assume there is two....one either side.

I've not to be honest, are they on the inside of the car, or in the engine bay. Apologies I'm not used to working on Range Rovers - all new to me! Any tips on how to get to them would be great!
 
Without popping out and looking (little inconvenient ATM as I have the 17 month old keeping me on me toes!!)
They Should be under the hood... At the bottom of the screen either side

You sure it's one relay? Usually the connections for the screen will be on the outside under the trim at the bottom of the screen. Failure of the element is common, both sides have gone on my P38.

Yea mine duz that, 3 screens I have had, only last a few years, and they go again
 
Or.... you could do what some dirty rascal did, hit the screen with a rubber hammer, and tell the insurance you hit a pheasant on the motorway... so I have been told that is...
 
On my P38 only a strip down the centre would clear but, the heater normally cleared it in less
than 5mins unless it was really cold, only downside was the around town MPG would drop
from 14 to 12 in winter.
 
My Aircon don't work, think it needs regassing. Get the little book symbol on the heater control screen!
Depending on the year, failed aircon may not produce the book symbol.
Need to have the system checked for leaks and if OK re-gassed. I assume you have checked the compressor drive belt is in place and the fuses and relay are OK?
It's good to keep the aircon on all the time as it saves the electronics suffering from condensation.

As far as I remember the compressor runs when a/c is switched on. Would love to get the heated seats working, previous owner said they've never worked, but never bothered to find out why!
 
Heated seats is normally a broken wire in the seat base element and can be fix by soldiering a link wire in .
one of the guys did a bit of a write up on how to but the forum search function is not working so cant look for it.

On the P38, the aircon runs when the light on the switch is OFF.
