You two are like Statler and Waldorf. it keeps everyone amused. Keep it up:):):);)
:) Is that the 2 boys on the balcony, in the muppet show?

As for HUD, I quite like the idea of that in my tratter.....better than using a headtorch to see the speedo at night :)
I'm also surprised at the price.....having never looked for one, I'd have thought they'd be a couple of hundred quid.

Hi, it was from Amazon its an A500 Head up display and was £21.77 and runs off the diagnostic plug

So that pretty much shuts the topic for the P38 because it'll only work on the petrol and maybe only later ones at that!

Wonder if he has seen the German proof of concept video of their safety motorcycle with an HUD in the helmet.? ;):D

I can’t even think of a day when I would want HUD in my motorcycle helmet:eek:
There are too many other things needed to concentrate on. Like all the cars:rolleyes:
Obviously peripheral vision is going out of fashion these days:(
I look at gauges and know the needles are where they should be, and you don’t need the exact number just the position of the needle. (Used to work with many gauges in front of me and could not tell you the numbers showing, but just knew they were ok) still getting to grips with the digital readout on the bike:confused:
Is there a useful need for a HUD? Yes. Is it really needed in a car I don’t think so.
I know when I am going too fast without looking at a speedo (once you know your car/bike)

It is going to be the “new”thing to have, but is it needed?

Not for me:rolleyes:

Cheaper to replace the bulb or download free Digihud App to show speed on your Android phone or tablet if you have one, shows speed in MPH, KPH or Knots, distance trips, average speed, max speed and will project onto the windscreen if your Android device has a bright enough display.

I been on youtube to look at them, some are real crapp, they double screen, even with the stick on thing on the screen

I had an idea about 20 years ago of projecting text messages onto the screen using a line of spinning LEDs. No Smartphones then but mobiles were becoming more popular. A friend and I knocked up a prototype and hit the double image problem. We started looking at stick-on films and so forth but different screens were giving different results and we were both busy with our main jobs. Sat-navs were becoming more popular too and we figured that they'd just integrate with your phone and then the car-manufacturers would cotton on and the whole thing would be fitted as standard within 5 years. So, we cut our losses and moved on. I'm not sure why 20 years on it still hasn't happened but I'm guessing some of it is probably around the screen projection, especially when it is misty or a bit dirty.

No, but it is not fitted to a Range Rover. It sits on a soft rubber pad (supplied) in the lower R/Hand corner of the dash but can be,located anywhere the cable will reach. On start up it gives battery voltage and then charge voltage .when you turn off ignition it gives distance covered.

Nothing to do with not liking new fangled and everything to do with what is legal, anything in the 30cm vertical band in front of the driver is illegal and bloody stupid.
You do know many new cars come factory equipped with HUDs these days...... ;)

Hi dont know if anyone is interested , But I have fitted an HUD to my sons car ( just learning to drive) its brilliant, all dash shown on lower section of windscreen. Plugs into diagnostic socket. took about 10 mins to fit.Theres some clever stuff about for Dinosaurs like me.
What year/model Range Rover?

To me that constitutes another distraction. I do not know about the UK, but nothing is allowed on the windscreen in a vertical band about 30cm wide in front of the driver over here.
Is a projection actually "on" the windscreen? What if the dash or heater screen vents reflect as an image on the windscreen, are the also illegal in France?

Hi its not fitted to my range rover, its fitted to my sons car and yes it projects an image on to the screen there are no vents on the screen in that area so it doesnt affect the immaIgeabot I dont know about France but Citroens flagship model has it,abeit more sophisticated
