Hi All,
My first post... I have bought HID headlamp units to swap out Halogen Headlamp units on my FL2 2013 Dynamic. I was hoping for plug and play but not the case. A LR specialist plugged into ECU to tell it, it now has HID headlamps and only one light worked (Drivers side). Having spent a number of hours trying stil can’t get them to work. Any ideas? Any quick connectors I need to make them work? Thanks in advance
 
Maybe the one that's not working is faulty?
Don't forget to fit the auto levelling system and washers ,or it'll fail the MOT.;)

I looked at some on the Bay and was in the process of buying them when I was told that unless you have self levelling headlights it will fail the MOT. I’ve opted for super bright lamps from the local shop in stead. They give plenty of light. Hope that helps
 
I was told the light equivalent of ECU could be re programmed to auto level. The lights already have the headlight washers in front bumper.

I wanted to change the lights as bulbs keep blowing fairly quickly. Also I have an issue with the DRL on the passenger side. When the indicator is used the DRL switches off until the car is switched off and on again it restarts, as soon as indicator is used it goes off again. (On another point is there a faulty relay that could cause this?). As the standard LR halogen bulbs are not great, coupled with this issue above I thought I would upgrade, but need help to make this work. I have been told the light Ecu may need changing to make them work...where would I find this!! (Apologies for lots of questions in one post)

I replaced the battery 14 months ago as heard the same thing, have bought quality branded halogen bulbs online, maybe should try shop bought instead.

I might have to scrap the HID idea as going to cost too much. How hard is it to fit ride level sensors?

Do you have any answers regarding my existing DRL failing when the indicator is used?

The hight sensors need the brackets and potentially the wiring too.
It's quite a lot of work to retrofit HID lights correctly, so there's no MOT problems later.

Sounds like some kind of issue with the DRL control unit.

I'd get a full diagnostic read done. These modern vehicles are full of complex electronics.

Ok sounds like a lot of work. I will have to sell the headlamps and cut my losses I think!

In regard to DRL I will have to get it diagnosed again and see what come up. Just wondered if there was some kind of unit that sends power to the DRL that is failing after indicator is used. I swapped the left and right lights over and the one that is not working correctly, does work correctly the other side and vice Versa so definitely a fault on the passenger side.
 
Sounds more like an earth/short fault ...
 
The ballast is usually the culprit are you sure it's the vehicle and not the lamp itself? Ie have you tried switching left to right etc
 
I'm not sure where the power to the DRLs is fed from, but if they're LED, then it's possible the driver is in the light unit itself. It does sound like an LED driver fault, which needs investigating.

Bute's idea of swapping the lights electrical connections side to side is a good idea.

I have swapped the lights over and they non working does work and the working one doesn’t when swapped over if that makes sense, which is why is leads me to believe it’s an issue outside of th headlight itself. Which leads me onto what drives the DRL and whether that is faulty on one side?

nothing about your quote but can you change your picture as every time I see it I want one more and more but unless I can get an auto it is a no go , my friend offered me his but it is a v8 and boy would that cost a lot on fuel
