Aah think I got you. Yes 2 solid pins go over the top of the pads so I need the ones where the pins go through the pads? Same as the ones circled in the picture?

Im starting to get the feeling that the correct ones circled, are also for vented discs and not solid ones?

no, vented or non vented are the same ,there are 2 types of pads(though there are many part numbers )ones for solid pins (2 holes in pads) ones for split pins (center tab type), if a caliper has holes big enough for solid pins it is a solid pin caliper ,if not its split pin smaller hole

Sorry to confuse things just wanna make sure you get the right brakes as there the most important part of your landy!,

sorry if im wrong but to clear things up I think....

if your calliper has 2 brake pipes, its the older model and you should have two pads with that have the single sticky out bit at top in the middle, the pins have clips that push down on the pads to hold them in place and the bottom of the calliper is shaped so they cant fall out.

if your calliper has 1 brake pipe then it is the later model, the pins push through holes on each side of the pad at the top.

scary to think you had two different types there!

Just to help, I can verify this.

My setup

Front: 1 pipe, pins and spings
Rear: 1 Pipe, pads with clips

300tdi 1994.

You want the type with the holes in

You should get a fitting kit also witch is new pins new springs and a cir clip to go through the end of the pins

When your buying bits like this its probably best to do a Google search and get hold of your local motor factors they are usually helpful have the bits on the shelf are cheap and if its the wrong part they will take it back and give you the right part straight away

i have two discos

Lreg 1993? V8 (200tdi style) 2 pipes on front calliper has the pads with clips and wear indicators.

Preg 1997 300tdi 1 pipe on front calliper has pin and springs, no wear indicator.

i dont know about the back on either of them aint looked yet :)

Good to see you got it sorted and all safe now :) only thing you may have missing is the anti rattle springs that go on the pins in between the callipers, don't think it matters though :)
