been out in abergavenny today and a lot of the outdoor shops, Have sales on lots of trousers thermal and double layered water proff's 10 to 20 quid.Loads of bargins if you have the time to look.

a pair of tracky bottoms under combats works, jeans are always cold. have you not got a heater in your landy?? :p
 
Get a thermal base layer and a pair of good thick cotton combats or walking trousers to wear over them also get a thin fleece top and a warmer fleece jkt. top it all off with a breathable waterproof jkt. that way ya can take layers off when your driving and quickly add extra layers when outside the vehicle.

Lol...i got a heater that doesn't work very well , make that hardly at all and a drivers door that won't close so there's an inch gap all the way on three sides :D

will go shopping tomorrow and see if i can find some cheap stuff..thanks everyone :)

I wore these in Siberia last year at -38 and they did the job just fine
