didnt think it would do if its been submerged for any length of time ,if its just rusted on engine will free it eventually if its blocked it will need cleaning or if unlucky replacing as diaphragm fingers bend if clutch pressure plate cant move because it jammed with clay ,either way you need to check oils first ,

tis on my list of things to check tomoro..will report back thanks all:)

Yep.....that's pretty silly

yeah i know but the other option is leave it there and strip the gearbox or replace it. seeing as oil gives a similar action to ice and ice doesn't care what gear you're in, you keep going forwards, it might work?? i know i'd rather have to chuck a bottle of fairy on my drive than strip my gearbox, so it's got to be worth a try. if his gearbox is ****ed anyway, why not give it a go?

So yu wud advise covering the parking area with oil, rather then removing a wading plug and taking a look to see if its full of crud?

gear box may or may not be ,thats what you have to find out first using logic ,theres not many reasons why a stick will jam

no, obviously do that first but if that doesn't work then....

that said, what if it is full of crud?, whats the next step?

this aint looking good for me leading or even making the day,im totally skinto and having still got the probs with the disco its still stuck solid where it is,i dont have time or money to try n sort it.

Right, there's a room at the Premier Inn in Poole I've booked for the Fri night that I'll give to you and Mel if we can sort a vehicle for you to lead from as ballast.
It's not the same I know but at least that way you'll still be able to come along for the day.
DV has plotted the route and is having issues getting it emailed to you, if necessary I'll come up and plot the route on MM, I can put a knowledgeable tailender with you as well to make this work :)

Actually, been thinking more about this and I wonder if the handbrake (even though it's not been used) has that much crap in the drum/linings and is seized up solid, thus effectively locking up the driveline when also left in gear?
Brick under wheel and drop rear prop methinks ;)

Ah...... but handbrake wasn't on so doubt it would lock it up solid??

Oh it's possible, Salisbury Plain slurry up inside handbrake drum, dried like concrete and rusted up linkages, expanded the linings against a rusty drum, you know it makes sense

if he trys some stuff then there will be more to go on as boomer said you only need jack a wheel up to prove lots of points

Thanks rob i really dont wanna miss the trip. Me n me mate are gonna have more of a go at it tonight starting by removing wading plugs then moving thru the list from there. Hopefully reporting gd news back later. Thanks for everyones input
