I just picked this beasty up this morning. She is reasonably tidy under the mud and dust. Body is straight, interior is good bar headliner and chassis seems solid but will need closer inspection. She does have some issues though. Blue smoke that is non turbo related and problems with the passenger door catch. Oh and she has done a confirmed 50k from new.

50k is high mileage for one of mine lol. The daf in the same photo has done 24k and that is 20 years older!

Looks like a fascinating place you've got there. Sheds, plant pots, bits of timber saved for the day when they come in useful. Even a '70s Daf in the background. Is it old enough to have rubber belt transmission?

Yep daf is a vario. There is a 6th dad down the track and a mkiv spitfire in the yard. Oh and my disco is in Nissan style shed behind the cars. The oldest building on the farm dates from 1730. Whole place is a mud bath at the moment due to building work

Good news. Defender passed its MOT this morning. Had to do a few things to get her through but nothing major.

1. Change the number plate light
2. Radius arm bushes.
3. Bit of welding to in the wiper linkage to get the passenger wiper moving properly.
4. Secure some wiring

Advisories. Will be done quickly as most are things that shouldn't be left to wait.

1. Minor damage on the seat belts. Replace
2. Off side front brake pipe corroded - Replace.
3. Off side front shock absorber slight misting. Replace ASAP

Not a bad showing for a 20yr old Landy.

Got a few things done to this one today. (I really need to think of a name, its not right she doesn't have one.)

Anyway she now has freshly painted light surrounds and grill, Headlamp cages, Radio ariel, Head unit, CB radio, and CB antenna. The latter most caused me a bit of a headaches as its a magnetic mounting and of course being a defender there is no suitable steel panel to mount to. The solution I'm using is to rivet a steel plate to aluminium stock canopy to give me a mounting point for my CB antenna that allows for the utilisation of the easy re-moveability that comes from the magnetic mounting.

That makes me pretty much all set for the LZ weekend that's fast approaching. Although I do have a plea to ask of those going on the weekend. I need a spare wheel as I don't much fancy laning without one. If anyone has one that they could bring to the weekend that I could buy it would be apreciated. My car is wearing 15 inch steels. Matching style would be preffereable buy not essential as she already has one odd wheel.

Thats the best pic I have at hand that shows the wheels. Oh and you can all have a good laugh at me trying to extract her from a peat bog

Not sure I want to risk pay and play with her yet. She is stock height and doesn't have any underbody protection, and if I damage her so that I can't drive her I really am screwed as this is the only car I have on the road at the moment.
