Prepped and sprayed the hard top . this weekend. I'm pretty impressed with my garage spray job. I'm sure the neighbors enjoyed my compressor running all day lol

My first attempt at spraying at home using compressor.

Side panels rubbed down using random orbital sander. A few small dents hammered out then filled. Primed then top coated nato green.

I havent got any photos of top coated side panels.

Roof - I didnt spend as much time prepping as you cant see it that high. Still looks ok though -

2 coats of top coat later - I just need to buy a rubber grommet to close that hole until I fit a radio and want an aerial.

Great work. Roof often neglected. I wonder if it will be warmer inside with the darker colour.

I'll probably insulate then carpet it fully anyway so it should be ok (I hope). I just need to work out what bolts I need now and then find a rear door and hinges. I'll probably just buy a new door.

Brand new rear door ordered now with glass. Also ordered a striker, lock assembly and rear hinge kit (including bolts). Now what else do I need? I guess a rubber seal at some point.... I'm sure I'll start fitting and realize I've forgotten something pretty important.

Old roof stuff off including roll bar. Sides and roof on. Just need to bolt the thing down fully now and then spray and fit the rear door.

This is the route I'm thinking of going at some point in the future (well as soon as funds allow). What else was needed apart from the roof? Seals etc?

Looking great anyway mate, your trucks very similar to mine.

MOT passed today :)
I fitted the rear door with new stainless nuts and bolts. Measured and drilled the holes for the hinges. The door is now removed and painted in my garage. I'll fit it tomorrow then fit the rubber seal. Hopefully it will be dry. Heres a link to the door I purcahsed if anyone is interested eBay Door
Piccies tomorrow i hope

Almost finshed the roof - I fitted the rear door this morning. I then fitted the lock mechanism, latch and rear door seal. I just need to buy the mechanism that stops the door opening too wide and the seal along the bottom now. I've got a cover to fit to the inside of the door but I wont attach that until the inside is fully soundproofed and carpeted. I'll wait until pay day to order the bits for that. Overall I'm pretty happy on the paint quality. Now I'll have to rub the whole thing down using my air powered orbital sander and get it all like the roof. I dont think the full rub down/respray is going to happen any time this year though unless I can find someone local with a big shed/garage that will let me prep and spray it in. It's way too big for my home garage lol

How it looked this morning -

The inside of the door took a lot of paint lol. I don't want this thing rusting too soon! You can see some runs in the paint as I put too much on during the final coat.

Finally the RRC backed up to the 110. The RRC is lifted approx 1" on the rear to give it some rake..... it looks pretty low still compared to the 110. I don't think the 110 will be fitting into any multistory car parks soon lol

Great work. Roof often neglected. I wonder if it will be warmer inside with the darker colour.

I've got a black truck cab and in the recent sunny weather I have been sweltering. Had to take the roof off. Doesn't help having black vinyl seats as well!:eek::eek:

I may have the bottom rubber seal you can have. I will have a look during the week and let you know.

its looking good though by the way.

whats your final verdict on the rear door? worth the money?

Thanks for the offer :). I've already ordered one though along with retaining plate. I've also ordered carpet to do the roof. I'm going to paint the interior and carpet the roof next weekend. Final verdict on the door is good. I did have some issues lining up the lock latch but that could have just been my land rover out of shape lol. I soon fixed it with a hammer on the tub. It was only about 2mm.

Also ordered some black window tint to do the inside of the rear windows. Not too dark but dark enough to limit the prying eyes of an opertunity thief from peering in.
