This is incredible.. Making me want to trade up to a 110

Might be a silly question but what's the blue spring for? Is it a helper for extra articulation? Similar to the X-eng setup? I reckon that home-made bikini top was one of the best bits!

Well I couldn't wait for nicer weather and chose to swap out the suspension on the drive this afternoon. 5 hours it took. That was 3.5 hours on the front then 1 hour on the rear and half hour to pack up. It turned out that the shocks I fitted to the rear some time back were the same as the ones in this kit so I didn't swap them out. It's given it a nice lift on the front of approx 1.5" and it's about the same on the rear. I had 1" spacer blocks on the rear before with HD army spec springs. It drives nicer than before as the spring rates are slightly softer than the army setup. I'll fit the RTC damper another time and get some before and after photos of the land rover now it's on the new suspension. Also it turns out the front strut towers and rings were fine. I fitted my galvanised turrets/rings/spring seats anyway so I'll clean up the old set and sell them. I also took the oppertunity to use a wire brush and clean any surface rust around the spring then give it some waxoyle. I'll be doing the whole chassis again this summer and dont want to have to take the springs off again to do under them.

Front springs - (Approx 1.5" higher than the stock Army HD ones)

I know u covered the roof with silver insulation foam rolls but that u covered that with that black stuff. What is it ? Carpet or cloth ?? I need to do mi e as well. It rains on me in winter lol

The springs were terrafirma medium duty 2". The black carpet is car carpet from eBay. It won't rot or smell.

Watching this with interest. Let us know what you think of the terrafirma stuff. Ive got the exact same setup on mine ;)

I fitted the RTC steering damper this morning. The old damper was in pretty good condition to be fair. The new one went on fine. Also took it on a 100 mile round trip with the new suspension and it drives fine. The new RTC damper makes the steering heavier at low speeds but definitely seems to be a general improvement. I think I'm going to add a power steering conversion onto the list next. I'm thinking of power steering, a snorkel and a led light bar across the roof. Anyway here's some pictures of it with the +2" medium duty suspension.

Anyone interested in some HD Army springs and front turrets? I'll probably clean them up and put them up for sale. Either that or just leave them in my parts collection in case I want to put it back to stock.

Good looking landy mate.

Did the springs come with any info on spring rates? Just ordered some softer springs for my ex-mod 90 which should be 175 lb/inch front and 225 rear so i'll be interested to see how you get on.

What made you go for the RTC damper? I'm thinking about one too but not sure if it's benefits outweigh the extra effort at low speeds without pas. You still happy with it?

There's not much else been going on with my defender..... I'm more than happy with the new suspension. I'm planning on waxoyling the chassis again and cleaning up the engine bay again but that's it really.

Also if anyone is interested I have listed the softop, tailgate, roll bar, frames etc etc on ebay. LINK HERE

All the spring info is on the Terra website. I'm still happy with the RTC damper. Although it is slightly heavier steering. It's great to drive up a curb or into a rut at low speed and not get smashed by the steering wheel as it moves.

Spring rates on the 110 medium kit are 230 lb/inch front and 300 lb/inch rear.

Found it here CLICK ME

Like christmas, but in July

So it's been a while since this thread was updated. I've not really done much to the 110 but I have decided to treat myself to a new 110!

Well it's not brand new but new to me. I've been watching 110 CSW's for a few months now and looked at a couple from 200tdi to Td5. It's amazing how much crap is out there! Looked at a 97 CSW described as "may need welding for next MOT". I couldn't believe it when I lay underneath and could get my fist through holes in the chassis from front to back. The chassis was well beyond repair but the thing still sold for 4k on ebay! Be careful out there folks, there are a lot of ****ters being passed off to people.

Anyway here's the new one. It's a 2005 110 CSW Td5. It looks like it's been looked after pretty well so far by previous owners. I've already started removing some of the bolt on mods as want to keep this thing fairly nice. The previous owner though a couple of new bucket seats in with the deal which I also fitted (not a straight fwd bolt in job).

The different between driving my ex MoD 110 and this is night and day. I think my ex MoD with the tweaked 200tdi actually feels slightly quicker. It's certainly louder. This new one is luxury though in comparison..... carpets, electric front windows, a stereo system, power steering etc....

Nice 285's with plenty of life left

And here's one now I've removed the light bar, a-bar, rear window grills and started removing the stickers. There's still a couple more stickers to remove along with the lettering stuck to the edge of the bonnet.

Also fitted the seats. Took me way longer than I thought as I had to weld the runners to adapter plates that bolt to original seat box holes. The silver bare metal you can see needs a quick spray. You can also see my ctek battery charger cable poking out. I can now charge the battery if needed without unbolting the seat.

So next up on this beauty is a full chassis jet wash and under seal job to make sure it's a good one in years to come. Also thinking of a re-map to get a bit more power out of it. I also want to fit the original steering wheel back at some point.

Very Nice ! Mine was flat as a fart until I got a stage 1 remap ! Now it goes like **** off a stick !!
