Not strictly LR garage but a good backstreet/sole trader tyre supplier

B&G tyres Albertbridge Rd, Belfast.

No fancy workshop but superb service..............highly recommended

I would like to recommend Colin Patterson of Longhill industrial estate Hartlepool. This mechanic is one in a million his work is spot on. The prices are not rock bottom but you get what you pay for. He took time out to come to my home to diagnose a fault with my freelander 1.8 then said it would be ok to drive it to the garage at Longhill est, then brought my son back home after he dropped the landy off. Then after the repair and conversio0n to two wheel drive Colin dropped my landy at my home because I was working and could not get to his garage to pick it up. Now that is what I call service and also a good repair. +++++ five star for Colin Patterson of longhill industrial estate Hartlepool 4x4 specialist highly recomend this mechanic .....

Harris Mayes Country cars in Rickmansworth Herts ( 01923 711800 ) - very experienced on Land Rover products, all enthusiasts, very knowledgeable, free courtesy cars ( just pay for the petrol). I`ve found them really helpful on my Defender, Range Rover Classic and even on occasion my son`s Clio, and if you have an older vehicle they charge a cheaper workshop rate.
I`ve also used Mark Smith, now in Bicester but were in Boarstall in Oxfordshire, on my earlier Range Rover and they were also very good. Kings Langley Land Rover also did a brilliant job refurbing my ex MOD 109 with a new chassis, it was a work of art.

My Disco goes into Challenger 4x4 in Tongham (near Farnham/Aldershot)

They even came out and did my Crank Sensor on the driveway to save me getting it recovered there :)

Dakar Cars of Swanley, Kent have been pretty good at looking after my freelander.

Dakar Home

I'd like to second that.
Fitted two new propshaft (front and rear) support bearings Saturday morning in an hour and a half. Total cost just shy of 300 notes. Ringing around for quotes, I was given prices of £350-£800 from verious independants in the area.

Nice, friendly team. All come across knowledgable. Yes I'll take the Freelander out there if (read 'when') it needs something else!

Hi All,

Well I've had problems with clutch hydraulics on my 04 Freelander TD4. Which are widely discussed on here from what I can see.
Replaced the master cylinder (thanks to the threads on this forum) and for a whole day I had the pleasure of being able to change gear ... but ... still losing fluid so I guess its the slave. What a good idea to bury it in the gearbox! Its on 68k so I guess I might as well have a clutch as well.

Don't have the facilities to do a clutch - don''t have thousands of pounds under the matress - but DONT want to go to MrClutch if I can help it. Can anyone on here recommend a landrover mechanic/garage in the Crawley, West Sussex area.

thanks

Rob

LRC Congleton in cheshire are great although Landrover dealers they do not charge top Landrover dealers prices in fact probably Half and do a excellent job
Head gasket on the wife's freelander

I can highly recommend:

Abbey Service Centre
Orphanage Road
Erdington
Birmingham
B23 6QH

0121 377 2580

They are part of a Multi-manufacturer retail site, and back onto the Colliers Land Rover franchise. If they have the need, they can talk to the lads 'across the yard' who've been trained by Land Rover.

They do all vehicle, all model services, MOT's and repairs. The AA use them a lot for their 'tow-in' recoveries. They also offer a 'quick-fit' service and tyre repair - with a FREE puncture repair, and a FREE winter Check.

Their labour charges are competitive on servicing.

They open 08.30-18.00 weekdays, but only 08.30-13.00 on saturday's

I have used these guys for the last thirty odd years. 10/10.

I'll second that, have just used them to do a few bits on mine and would/will use them again. They've been going for 30 years too.

I have seen less than complimentary comments around the net about 4 Muddy Feet at Morpeth, SE Northumberland - particularly about their online shop- but in my experience they are to be recommended for the following reasons. 1)Last year the under arch fuel pump failed on the wifes FL 2.0Td4, I sourced one from 4MF, cost maybe £40 or so if memory serves. When I picked the pump up I got chatting to the chap as you do during which he asked me if I had ever done one before, replying that I hadn`t he went on to explain the procedure to me with the one or two sticking points to look out for, not my usual experience with a garage - telling me how to fix it myself.
2) A couple of weeks ago noticing a worrying noise from underneath less than 48 hours before having to tow a caravan up to the Highlands (what noise? the wife said when I asked how long it had been there) I took it in to 4MF to get an opinion. At first the receptionist said "sorry, too busy", however the mechanic who was stood behind her wiping his hands said that he had just finished a job and had time to give it a quick road test (time 15:15), he diagnosed centre bearings (probably) but would put it up on the hoist to confirm,he then came and gave me the bad news "needs new VCU and bearings". I needed it done and did not have time to do it myself so asked can you do it tomorrow?. The staff in the reception area including the mechanic and a lady who I took to be one of the owners(it is a family firm) looked at the work diary then looked at me then looked at each other and back at me before saying "maybe if can you leave it with us and if we have a VCU in"(they had).I said of course but I need to get home - ten miles away, the mechanic said that it was on his way home so if I could wait an hour or so he would drop me off - time now 15:45.So I sat down to wait for my lift.At 17:00 almost on the dot the wife rang, I was busy explaining to her that I needed picking up from 4MF to save the mechanic from having to drop me off when the receptionist appeared dangling the keys and mouthing "it`s ready" at me. Knowing my situation they had the FL turned round in two hours fitting it in with other ongoing work. Are they cheap?, maybe not but in my experience their customer service and attention to detail are faultless. They are also genuine LR enthusiasts so until I experience a reason not to the wifes FL will be going to them.

When I need to I use
http://www.cavendishmotorworkshop.co.uk/

They are based in chesterfield always friendly and helpful and have a separate parts business as well.

The other that I use for MOTs is
http://aherringltd.co.uk/

Cos cavendish don't do MOTs.
Herrings are predominantly HGV mechanics but for mots they are strict but not make it up try and charge you for a load of stuff needing doing that's not necessary. Also you don't need to book in just leave it with them.

Ive had good luck with European Motors in Tacoma Washington. (European Motors | The Leading Audi, Mercedes, BMW, Jaguar, VW and Land Rover Repair & Service Center in the Northwest)
Im gonna use them for just about everything from now on. Saved me some time here and there when fixing little issues over the last year or so.
Well except the exhaust, Got these bad ass Koreans who have a limited English vocabulary but sure do know there exhausts. :)
And the Mexicans who have the best little tire shop downtown! best deals anywhere!!! But you almost need to bring a translator :( )

A couple of independent Land Rover mechanics in the Wombourne (Wolverhampton) area. Mark Foster mobile mechanic 07779 079598 & for larger jobs Jim @ Phoenix 4 x 4 on 01902 892908. I can recommend both. Good honest fellas who don't rip you off.
