could you put lots of pics so we can see what the black oil does or does not do to engines?
yea of course
keep in mind that this engine has failed on 160k
I bought it at 90k 3 years ago and have NEVER run on dino diesel

i was talking to a fella tonight about black diesel and he reckons if you cut it with paraffin it cleans the crap out of the engine never tried it myself but he swears by it
Edited for accuracymy mix that I have been using and have used in the past is
Waste oil 80 litre
petrol 20 litre
paraffin 180ml
acetone 180ml
that gives me around a weeks worth of fuel
heat the oil up to remove as much water then add in petrol, acetone and paraffin. mix well and filter down to 0.5 micron then feck up your car

Acetone going through pump seals?
I know its a small amount,I work with grp and we use a hell of a lot of acetone and its not very kind to seals,so in the long run is that not also going to kill pump johnny?
Mines on 178k at the mo and I had a panic as I put 77p worth of petrol in my Dse by mistake and watered it down with £60 worth of diesel and crossed my fingers it would be ok,I asked my mechanic if it would be ok and he said it would prob do it some good?
Petrol was used in diesel as an anti waxing agent in winter to prevent freezing. Not for any other reason.
true and 99% of diesel we buy now has an anti waxing agent in it during the winter months so it's no longer advised to use petrol
Looks to me like you have knackered your engine with the petrol and Acetone. If those glow plugs were spark plugs, you would be looking at a seriously weak and high temperature mixture.
Diesel equivalent of pre-ignition? Was the ambitious 25% petrol mix causing the burn rate to be too fast (violent) which took out the glow plugs? If so your pistons and valves will probably have a few battle scars!
true but at least it was fun trying
I managed half a leak down test last night before the gauge broke
so I know the first 3 cylinders hold pressure above 85% once the company sorts out a replacement gauge I'll test the other 3 pots before removing the head to see what they can hold
He probably did, or someone else did when it wasn't waste.
Think he may have meant fuel duty. That is payable on ANY Dino oil used as fuel. Waste oil or not.
