Wouldn't it be useful if there was a UK wide definitive map that all county councils could feed into.

They might get to it one day, but probably by then laning will be banned to all but cycles, and we will all be in electric microcars! :(

Closest we have is Trailwise, available to members of Glass .. but this is only updated when we, the public, use lanes and report back, it's very interactive and by no means complete. The trouble is, every county and every council can do things mostly their own way, there's no coherent mapping solution for rights of way. It's getting better, but it'll take time .. ;)

I've just this evening joined GLASS- maybe it's something that should be recommended. It would save money- far fewer ROW officers would be required if it was national. And there could be an interface between us the users and the national ROW team?

I saw that so what is warm 91 then the pinkish line?

thanks

;) WARM91 isn't the pink line, it's the purple line and stands for Warminster Footpath 91, which again can be decuded from the key .. or at least it can if you are used to reading maps with overlays from councils.

The pink line is a main road, the A36(T)

As it happens, I just looked at Trailwise and this Byway isn't marked!! I'll pass the info on and get it added ASAP! ;)

Maybe being so close to the plains it's just been overlooked .....

Pink/ purple- same thing? ;)

Now I'm a member I shall start to catalogue all of the byways on the plain, and feed them into Trailwise! The majority around Copehill down IVO J xing need to be subjected to Voluntary restraint due to Army overuse!

Nice one .. Dale knows all about that .. he's done a load of way-marking in conjunction with the forces etc and Wilts CC, he's on very good terms with them!

It shall have to wait for Christmas leave now when the boys are off the area! But I'm sure we will have fun doing it!

There's an old boy who organises a lengthy nav ex each new year which incorporates 99% of all the ROW on the plain! Normally the discovery boys turn up and play in puddles while the remainder nav about!
