Hi all, newbie here, in every sense of the word. I've just picked this up after a few months of looking for a suitable project car that wasn't too expensive or too far gone to be practical - or both ...

This will be my first ever restoration and I'm looking forward to getting stuck in. From what I can see, the car is pretty original. The bulkhead looks ok, chassis appears to be sound but I guess we'll see when I get the body off. My plan is to restore from the chassis up and go through everything, repair where practical, replace if not. I am also going to upgrade to some S3 parts (brakes, gearbox, elec ignition etc) as required.

I can weld so that's a start, I'll pick up other required skills (probably?) as I proceed. Reading the forums here has already been a tremendous help, I know I'm going to need A LOT more.

FYI, i am based in Edinburgh Scotland.

Let us begin.....

Jealous!!!

Hey, good luck. It looks like you’ve got a good basis for a great series 2 (though I haven’t seen the chassis!). Look forward to following progress.

Thanks, from what I can see the chassis is ok, but clearly i won't really be able to fully assess it until I get the body off. It arrives here on Wednesday. The chassis has had some work done previously, rear cross member and outriggers etc. If a new one is needed I wouldn't be too bothered but I'm hoping not!
