Hi chaps,
just hoping for some advice?
It's now 2600 miles since the FIP was resealed, still runs, but now has an intermittent fault that is becoming more regular.
Starts up first turn and idles smoothly at 750.
From cold she drives faultlessly for 5 or so miles, then sometimes starts to stutter (Like fuel starvation!) put foot down, No acceleration, ease below 2000 revs runs smoothly again, Try to floor=it sometimes accelerates, sometimes cuts out until pedal released, very rarely will stall totally, (But has done!)
always starts straight back up, sometimes "Check Engine" indicator illuminates whilst driving and car plays up but goes out when she reverts to normal?
Any ideas? getting fed up with the Kangarooing and whiplash! lol

Don't play until you have had it on diag. With what you say, there have to be fault codes recorded.

Hi Dave, the AA bloke said it was the one in the pump?
Take it he meant the Fuel quantity servo unit?

No needle valve in the pump. Unless his equipment is calling the fuel cut off valve a needle valve. Needle sensor is number four injector malfunction of that would bring on Mil lamp. Although it should not cause a stall. Proper diag needed.

I had a similar problem with my 98 DSE as the engine gave an intermittent stutter, like a misfire for a second or two. Some guys here reckoned it could be No 4 injector. My MIL light did not show on the dash, so decided to fit the new diesel filter than had been lying in the boot for the past 4 weeks. The old one looked like the original
I don't use the Rangie that much so thought there might have been water in the filter. The thing ran perfect as I was taking it to the garage to get it checked over, so didn't bother It's been running OK since.
