Thanks just had the garage on the phone yes that is exactly what it was. Friday the 13th :hysterically_laughi
I do not have an owner manual so would appreciate the link.
Quick question I have something on the dash like a timer any ideas?? guy in the garage seemed to think it was something to do with the fuel burning heater?
Also from Aberdeenshire
You lucky, lucky man - if it says Webasto on it, has a clock display, and has 4 buttons marked with a flame, back-arrow, set, and a forward arrow, at the bottom, then you have the optional timer to operate the fuel-burning heater just like your home central heating.
Nothing about that in the owner's manual I think though, as the instructions for the heater timer came separately. I can help with that too, if you can't find instructions on-line. It's a standard Webasto unit the same as is fitted to HGVs as a night heater.
Mine is set to come on at 07.30 every morning so that when I step out of the house at 08.00 to go to work, it has heated the water in the radiator and block, also the windows are clear/de-frosted, and the cabin is warm as it turns on the heater fan too. A wonderful device.
If you press the flame button the fbh heater will run for the max of 30 minutes, or until you press it again. The noise and a bit of smoke scare a lot of people - don't leave it running when you go to Tesco's as you may well hear your Reg No with the message your car is on fire in the car-park - ha ha
Anyway if you want an owner's manual go to:
TOPIx - TOPIx
Register for free and you will be able to access handbooks for every LandRover ever made (or so they say) certainly there is masses of info if you enter the VIN number of your vehicle. Even the day it was made, first registered, recalls etc.
Other info is available if you pay for it like service charts etc.
I do suggest that you invest in a Haynes Manual for your motor as they are quite adequate for most folks to fix things.
Have fun enjoy your new machine - it's one of the best.
Get back to me if you're stuck. Send a PM if you like - as you could well be just down the hill from me for all we know.
Lot's of helpful people on here too. (a few numpties as well of course - who will tell you to burn the Freelander and buy a tratter instead)
Good luck, Singvogel.
