My Toyo R16 AT Tires (I'm Canadian. Apparently we spell tyres differently) are the best thing I've ever done for my hippo. I love them. Did over 2000km of off roading this summer and they didn't let me down once.

My wishlist also includes:
A slimmer side exhaust to allow for a little more clearance.
Bucket racks and a bit of extra lighting for winter wheeling
Skid Plate

So far it's got a 50mm lift, camber correction, snorkel :D, set of hoses to go on and the EGR delete. I'm getting some 17" wheels which will be black. Looking at 235/65/17 tyres possibly general grabbers if funds allow
Hows your handling post the 50mm lift? I was considering doing one but I really like the stock handling and suspension setup of the Freelander1.
 
My new ones not on the road yet. But my blue one has 50mm lift same as my previous green one. They do roll slightly more due to the height but I'd say the handling is not far off how they are standard. I've always been impressed with them. My suggestion would be meet up with some one that's got one locally and try it. With my blue one I've done all of the bushes and shocks and I love it. Being 17 years old it had got rather soggy.
 
My fav mod so far is the Renault thermostat in the top rad hose. Cheap as chips, easy, quick and works brilliantly. ;)

the air-intake mod .. coupled with the egr delete
that ..
plus .. being able to use a particular pierbug maf with its maf-remap box
( due to its 'response' below 1600rpm compared to the bosch / factory maf-map ..
( 'response' .. as in .. how the engine responds when one 'stabs' the go pedal
( or 'quick-nudge-with-toes' in lieu of 'stab' .. :)

reminds me must look at the rebuild kits to do my compressor , but there's so many kits don't know which one to choose,or what size pipe and connectors i need :D:D

as i'm certainally not buying a new one when u can rebuild them
 
I like all my mods [see the story here], but if I had to pick only one - hmmm: performance then, just making the intake/exhaust & head breathe easier - I think it pulls a bit better at lowish rev's and aids it getting consistently over 31mpg, ride: slightly taller & stiffer springs, cosmetic - well they are functional too - front & rear bash plates, fun - front dash camera! to record my trips out: With apologies to Gene Roddenberry and Capt James T Kirk: 4WD, the final frontier. These are the sojourns of the Land Rover Freelander. Its ongoing mission: to explore strange new places, to seek out new roads and new tracks, to boldly go where no Freelander has gone before - and not get embarrassingly stuck - flooded - break down ...
 
Once you get used to the td4, you'll find its hugely tunable, well past my skills.
You can even add a second turbo to it, add another 50cc with a longer stroke.
It's a very slippery slope for a man of your skills.
I'm just scared of destroying my auto box with the extra torque:oops:

That's the worry with the auto box. It's designed to take 300Nm and will take more. However the more torque it takes, the shorter it's life will be.

My favourite mods are my 17" Trek alloys and AT tyres. The second is the Synergy as it gives better torque, to compensate for the larger tyres. The third favourite mod is my FBH remote control. I can't wait to get into a warm cabin this winter:)

My new ones a neglected Y reg td4. I was pretty gob smacked the other morning to discover that the fbh actually works! Remote control does sound like a great idea.

Mine didn't work properly. I had to clean the combustion chamber and glow plug.
I then fired it up on Kerosene first, just to be sure it would work. I've now run it for several hours in 15 to 30 minute stretches. It starts every time and is smoke free, which is a bonus. The remote is perfect for warming the cabin in winter. Not that I've had a winter to try it yet. It warms the cabin in autumn in 15 minutes, so it's definitely working. :)
 
I've only noticed this come on the once so not sure how well it works but because of the narrowboat work I do getting parts for them is easy. I'd definitely be interested in a remote. Sounds like a great idea for frosty mornings. Does it bring on the heater fan too so it defrosts properly?

I've done it on a couple because they ran so badly. Announced that they need a new one, then you never see them again cos they run so well with them unplugged.

Yes it brings the fan on too. I've fitted a couple of relays into the fans slow speed resistor. The FBH has a pin out especially for a fan (pin 4). This will switch up to 500mA so is perfect for driving a relay. I then fitted a relay that feeds 12V into the fans slow speed wire (Red/ Pink) while the FBH is energising the relay. I fitted a second relay to the fan switches main feed. This opens when the FBH is feeding 12V (Light Green/ Slate) onto the fan. The reason for this second relay, is to stop power feeding onto the rest of the car when in FBH heating mode. The second relay could be omitted, if you remember to turn the booster switch to 0 before getting out the car. I couldn't remember that, so fitted a failsafe relay instead.
