Has anybody thought of using the air blast oil cooler that was fitted to hot climate diesel Freelanders to the 1.8 or V6 engines? Surely this would keep tranny oil temp and engine oil temp lower and as long as there are no leaks, maybe increase the life of engine and tranny? Although the bumper will need to be modified I dont see why this cannot be added on the to the existing system. Does anybody know where these can be bought?

does anyone manufacture longer liners that could be finished to length when fitted to block on rebuild ? or am i really barking ?

price , slip fit liners can sit in a very limited machined surface, with inaccurately machined top face( ie loose fit), whereas pressed fit need a proper engine block, with all the associated bores, webs, (ie more difficult to mould, using more material to make, therefore more expensive to make)sadly a lot of engineered stuff is looked at the same way

Hi guys
I'm new to the site. You all confirm my horror at possessing a 1.8 K series Freelander. Not my choice, but that's a long story. It beggars the imagination that Land Rover ever released this terrible vehicle onto the unsuspecting public. I'm desperately throwing money at mine to make it saleable and am fast running into the law of diminishing returns. I just replaced the head gasket and nothing in this thread gives me any comfort.
keep taking the tablets
Steve

After once owning a 1.8, (yes, the gasket went) I would recommend mothball mainteance as one day it may be worth trading it under the gov scappage scheme.

O dear, still all mostly hating our Freelandy's. Well, not blown up yet and I'm still liking mine, quirky bus that it is. One good thing, never seen a rusty one, so despite all their problems, they could be around forever - Ha! Out of interest dont they rust?

I done asked for that - fair cop. Anyone know where to get a new heat shield, the one in the front o the engine over manifold. Phoned LR dealer today and told cant get one as the supplier gone bust - not good!

PS I know I shuld just let it go on fire Beast O.

Well I had my 1.8 K series go bang on me 5 days after I bought it, to cut a long story short had the engine rebuilt by a by that races MGZR's and 6000 miles and a 13 months later not a single thing wrong with it since..... so I am happy so far....!
