Finally found an hour or two free for replacing the fpr on Hulk. Bolts undid ok. Connection to the fuel cooler was a nightmare which involved removing said cooler and butchering the old connector. Everything now ready for the actual removal.
How much force should this take? fpr seems reluctant to "let go" and I don't want to damage anything

Your'e not the only one with a thread on this on 'ere, and I fink tother bloke had a similar problem.
Undoing bolts, bolted into ally is such sheit isn't it?

Yes, I have read about a dozen threads on this topic - but the final removal aspect is glossed over in them all. The problems tend to be over access to the bolts, or getting them off without rounding etc. I have managed all that but the unit does not seem to want to part company with the engine block. Do I just pull harder? or prise with screwdriver? :eek::eek: or does it come off in a particular direction?

so the bolts came out?
Big sigh of relief then!
I get the feeling giving it a bit of a twist from side to side might free it off, but I have never done the job.
So maybe someone who has done it will come on and tell you.
Typical as you say about threads and videos skipping past important and difficult stuff.
It is bloody annoying. :rolleyes:

I’ve never had an issue with the bolts. It’s the connectors on the pipes as you can’t get your hand in to squeeze the lugs due to the manifold. Also make sure the wee O Rings are still on the mating face when you put the new one on.

It’s been a while, but I’ve done 2 or 3 and they should just come straight off when the bolts, I think 3, are undone and the pipes released.

Success....using the tried and trusted method of a Masterly plan of inactivity. Went inside, watched Nicola for a while, ate a Pot Noodle, went back out, glared at the regulator...and it came off in my hand! No idea what was holding it....other than 15 years of "stick" perhaps.

@Beneagles Old(ish) thread I know, but is the 'O' ring that sits in front of the gauze filter the same size as those for the pipes? I bought an FPR block with pipes etc. and it came with four 'O' rings, all the same size. Wondering if one of those is meant for the filter?

Hope I don’t mind me adding , hopefully I’ve got it correct with regards to connectors etc , but I got these small pliers that I found very useful getting fuel or push fit connectors off , also the panel pliers I used removing some stuck items after removing the bolts

onne again hope u didn’t mind me adding this , hope u get it all sorted

When I had to remove the lockers and all the rest of the gubbins from the back of my D2 in order to get the carpet up without cutting it, I bought a cheap box of tools to remove clips, from a local Motabitz. It made a real difference and almost all the clips were reusable. :):):)

must admit u saying that , since going from a FL1 to a D3 I’ve had to get more tools , starting with a bigger trolly jack as my old one creaked when I tried to jack up the D3 , lol

One of the best things I got was the cabinet , useto drive me nuts in not finding things , lol

indeed as u say , getting more tools can really make life easier , know after never owning one before , the impact wrench and the ratchet has really helped , was really pleased when I was struggling getting a bolt out in using the ratchet and extendable bar it came straight out with hardly any effort
