okay the guy in ZA blew ecu and ignitors and may or may not be using speed sensor

Below is an LS400 box shaft cut down to fit a Toyota Surf transfer box. (not my gearbox)

Seeing the speed sensor is in a void the only way forward appears to be keep sensor and shaft-removing rwd cone and go from there.

Update I'm ordering a 5th gear case for lt85,cross drillled input gear, FTC 5090 zf auto to lt230 adapter and seal and gasket.

The plan is to use existing transfer box- location fit adapter plate to auto box and bolt 5th gear housing-length wise it will be a couple of centimeters forward compared to lt85, but lexus v8 should sit about rover v8 location.

It is doubtful splines will match up on adapter-so a 2 flanges need machining to couple them.

lt 85 Gearbox above rear housing is 5th gear, preferable to lt77.
Handy for me bolts at 12 and 6 o'clock make alignment easier

so whats he done there? used the same autobox but taken from the toyota 4wd and one of there transfer boxes or actually cut the gearbox casing from a 2wd car and added a toyota transfer box?

what parts did you order, gearbox and transfer box? new from ashcrofts? :D

He has removed gearbox rear wheel drive flange and casing. Support bearing also and cut shaft down-long term spline issue. I'm making a template up and have an lt77 5th gear casing.

I Removed toyota output bearing and pressed into lt77 casing to give shaft centres.

Bought a chemically cleaned second hand 5th gear case , suffec c cross drilled input gear and ftc5090 zf to lt230 adapter.

I'll post some more pictures when I have template plate done

you can buy the adaptors then?

pics would be good as I have no toyota knowledge so not all yer numbers make sense :D

okay some pictures, Land Rover
1) Lt77 5th gear case with toyota bearing to centralize case to shaft.
2) trial template with 120mm diameter mounting hole (used spindle of cd's alignment tool for toyota rear housing bolts)
3) toyota gearbox with rear casing removed and dowel cut off
4) template I have roughly drawn round cases to make easier to identify sides etc.

Template just so I can get piece of steel and go from there.

Transfer box input gear bearings will support shaft when modified, trigger for speed sensor will need enlarging and speed sensor fitted to 5th gear case

looking at it one bolt will need counter sinked 10.9 hex cap, going to use hydrasill (peugeot sump sealant) so non issue.

Dropped box and metal plate in, pulling transfer box today to drop in this sunday as he wants to get started

no i will be paying, plan is to offset cost buy selling off bits I won't need. when we put a v6 in type 25 vw it cost £100 to machine .
I expect he will want £200-250, but I can absorb that by scrapping lexus and selling parts from 90 I don't want.

Also you never know with Martin as if it interests him and you try to at least do the basics=a challenge and price varies.

URGENT HELP PLEASE
Has anyone got a manual discovery/defender box out that they can measure output shaft on please.
Or 200 tdi auto to lt230

My £400 pound ninety project has had the input gear in lt230 welded to output shaft at some point and I need a measurement.

Guy wants stuff tomorrow.
