I plan to use the ls400 as a test bed to strip all the **** that isn't required in loom out and get to bare essentials needed to run engine.

The rover stuff locally is overpriced high miles and not enough power

he goes through alot of gear boxes though lol.

that is why I plan to use lexus auto box and sacrificial LT230, is he using lt77 to lexus v8?
 
pretty sure mine is lt230 on 1990 classic

and mine does have a chain, i think it changed in 1985 or 89 when they got the viscous coupling too

but dont quote me
 
check for a chain before you go too far :D

Have my mate sitting in room who used to work for toyota, he says doesn't know of any regular gearbox failures apart from wrong oil in them ****s them.

If you know something more about lexus box, spill the beans as an lt230 used in discovery, defender does not have a chain.
