Saw this on Facebook the other day, certainly a strange beast....

Disco1 200 with what looks to be a 90 bed running a 2.0 Mondeo engine, 2wd, Ford front hubs etc

Weighs 1300kg apparently

Anyone know any more about it?

With the front end 'tucked' like that, and the arse up in the air, maybe they are creating something for the drag strip? Would explain why they are chirping on about weight too, and the Zetec is a very tunable engine, especially with a blower attached. No good in a Disco for 'normal' duties, but would make sense if my initial guess is right.

Yeah that's got to be for drag use. Obviously that isn't the finished article. A 2 litre black top with a decent build and map would see over 500 bhp so it should be fun.

Or a drift car if it's rwd. Wierd picking a disco body though, they're hardly pretty things to start off with and he's binned all the disco's good bits!

Something 'different' I suppose, I've seen some mad things hurling themselves down drag strips....

Looks RWD, the engine is mounted longitudinally not transverse.

not knowing anyfing about it,
but if yer droping a zetec in, then gear box & ford axle would be a doddle too.
front struts look like there from summt else, so maybe the whole body collection was simply dropped over an earlier ford like a sierra/granada, maybe a P100 pickup (no need fer body type change on V5?)

LZers can easily do this,
if yer can work on older Landies...

banger racing guys drop all sorts of bodies over chassis just fer the day,
and have been dropping power plants/gear boxes from elsewhere fer years too.
propshafts problems?
no probs, use a length of scaffold wiv the right U/J`s welded on each end.

harder to bend then thin walled tube, but tends to bend axles easily.. :D

very much doubt its fer drag racing, as they use ally bodied series fer thet,
been done lotsa times,
I recon its a street racing thing...
Oh, snorkal fitted? ok, its fitted, but not connected, is it..

The fact it has the rear wheels on the rollers of a RR would lead me to believe its rear wheel drive without even looking at the engine bay but agree with the engine in that way it will be. The RR would also lead me to believe it is intended for some sort of racing. Sure it would be interesting either way.

Can't see your logic there, just because people have used Series bodies for drag racing before (seen them myself) doesn't rule out this being for drag racing, it's not like it's a rule or anything
They probably just had an old disco lying around collecting dust/rotting away.

I still reckon it's the early stages of a daft drag project. Look at the stance and the engine layout. It all screams drag to me.

can see your logic, having built a C/A once in my life ..
but the zetec is not a long motor,
fits easily in fiestas upwards,
but placed in a big space where a big rad sits also,
its kinda in the right place when a ford inline gearbox & housing is used.

the rad installed is a slim one eh?

be nice to try and find out some more from jemspeed or wherever tho`..

I've heard it was in for mapping at the time of the picture so with its rear wheels on the rollers i'm guessing at rwd.

Pretty strange using Ford front hubs though....
