but its not ford suspension is it,
have another look at the ford type macphersion strut tops complete with a strut top reinforcement bar/strengthener..

ford wheels front & back-simples,
my monies on a body change and not a landie at all ecept the cab...

for another slant of "real" landie body changes, look through LZ`s photos of mini bodies & other car bodies dropped onto real landie chassis,
not as in the ford "truck"

I never mentioned suspension did I, I said HUBS. Its got Mondeo wheels on the front and Discovery wheels on the back!
 
Did Land Rover not produce a two wheel drive small engine Disco for tax reasons so that it would fit in with the company car pool.

but I know fer sure landrover built a series as rear wheel drive only, coz it had a tube type front axle under it,
as I saw one, looked under one, back in the mid `80`s,
was a nice lady gardeners landie who was working for our local (at the time) council..
 
It's just got 2.25" coilovers on it with raised upper pick up points and more than likely Ford hubs, it's got Scorpio alloys on the front anyway. Looks like there is some sort of sub-frame too, could well be a half space frame chassis type affair, with the body dropped on. More than likely got a Sierra 1.8 CVH gear box as they bolt onto the Zetec no bother, then mated up to a Land Rover axle using a hybrid kinda prop shaft.

and a bullet proof sceptic built 1800cvh to push it along,
I done getting on fer the third time round me milometer on my ex cab 1800 auto quite a few years ago...

as you say, lots of ford Injins are Interchandable with different box`s...
 
Yeah, I'm not so sure how well a standard CVH 'box will hold up for drag use though. It's been a while since I was messing about with Sierras but if I remember right, a cheap simple option could be to use the CVH bell housing on an XR4i type 9 gearbox, but something tells me the input shaft is different. Should really go and research it as I have a Sierra sitting here I might put a Zetec in to.

Anyway, back on topic, I don't think it's for competition drag use as there's so much missed out or done that you'd have to undo, such as no roll cage, passenger seat, no bucket seat etc. It could be used in a run what you brung drag, but then what would be the point?

I`m no series man, but that strange landie cab on ??? chassis
has a strange truck bed also.
but I`m no series/fender speshelist..

lots others out there may know, but I suspect many dont give a fcuk about it anyway eh..:)
 
Well maybe, but if you stand still you get left behind. I always want to know why. Why have they done it that way? Is it better? Can I use that method or way of thinking to make what I do better?

I'm always looking at things that work perfectly well and thinking if I did this, this and this it would be so much better. Building up a rally car, every time I do something I think of a better way of doing it so I do it again :crazy:

when you get as old as me, you tend to learn lots along the way.
as your got an Injineering brain & hands, you`ll understand eh :)

not done any rallying,
but lots of small oval raceway stuff ;)
