Are you sitting comfortably ? Sent my fob away to be refurbed, looked good and worked. Within a few days I was getting the low key battery message on the dash. I contacted the refurb company and asked it they fitted new batteries. They replied they had. When I took them out and tested them they were fully charged but greasy.I wiped them clean and refitted them.I had to enter the EKA CODE to clear a engine disabled message .Now the car will not lock/ unlock using the fob.The red light illuminates when the buttons are pressed. As you may be aware I have the two remote mod, I checked the jog switch and it is completing the circuit between the r/f receiver and the becm.Any idea's (1998my)

Hi Alan. Look at the metal strip that carries the positive from the batteries to the circuit board connection. It runs down the side of the battery carrier, make sure it is not touching the edge of the top battery. Second one to go in. If it is you will only be getting 3 volts instead of 6. A bit of insulation tape inside over the strip stops this from happening.

Thanks Tony will have a look in the morning;)

my fob doesnt work if one of the doors isnt locked properly ,I simply lock and unlock the doors with the key, then it works again

:)Not telling you how to suck eggs .Did you push buttons on fob while it was in the lock.

Might as well mention this while we're on the subject of keys.

My original key is resync'ed in the lock in the usual way. However, my new replacement key refuses to resync until the car has been opened with the button on the old key. The first time it did it I thought I'd just made a mistake but the second time it happened I was more careful. Try as I might I couldn't get the new one to sync. Opened the car with the old one's fob and it sync'ed up straight away after that. As far as I can see that should make no difference whatsoever but the car has different ideas!

I not know what it is about Rover fobs, it's as if they only want people with a masters degree in electronics to buy thier vehicles. I've never known any other manufacturers fobs to play up as much as Land Rover.

The old key is Key 1. The new one is Key 4.

Tried that fixTony without success, now the red light only lights when you put pressure on the battery carrier. Still no remote locking.:(

My dad's new p38 has locking issues... The guy said that he had it looked at and the garage "replaced the back of the fob" (he had no idea about anything tbh.) he said it worked fine for a few months then stopped again. He didn't look I to it anymore after that. The fob has abuse marks on the back where someone has tried to maybe replace the battery?

You ought to see the "abuse marks" on mine and I still cannot get the ****ing battery out.

Not yet. No much point with my beast scattered all over the garage floor!

I know how you feel. Spill pipe from number one injector to top of pump failed on mine the other day. I decided not to use this https://www.rimmerbros.co.uk/Item--i-STC2843 and went for a 310 mm length out of the two metres of spill pipe i got from my local trade outlet for £4.50. Am i glad i pay trade prices. Where do Land rover get their prices from? :D:D

Been in touch with the refurbers and they said send it back with a prepaid envelope and they will look at it. I've only one key so may have to wait till next week when I bugger off to Fuerte, been three months due to my problems, cannot wait.:D

Bl**dy hell. Talk about thread resurrection - pretty much what's happened to Alan in the meantime.
