The wheels will just be pulsed by the TC. If you are grounded with the wheels in the air, you are stuck ;)
TC is designed to keep you moving with all wheels being braked when needed.
 
i thought TC systems when slipping decreased the power from the engine to try and sustain grip on the spinning wheel

could and prob wrong tho lol
 
That's what I understand. Or even if 3 wheels don't have any grip.....

if tc works on all 4 wheels it doesnt matter what combination unless its all 4 ,tractors get round that by using a ground radar to measure wheel slip against forward motion

i never knew they had radar til i saw meteorite hunters last week!

they used it to detect over a massive field...it worked :)
 
Yes, if 2 wheels were up and 2 wheels had grip, it would pulse the brakes on the 'up' wheels to give power to the wheels whith grip.

If you were grounded on the chassis as well though, the 2 'down' wheels may not have had enough grip to move the car - did you notice whether the down wheels turned at all?
 
Im pretty sure the down wheels didn't move I had my head out of the window and I could hear the pump going but the front wheel was still spinning I was expecting to see it pulsing but it was just turning!
 
The TC works by pulsing the brake on the spinning wheels. This pulsing allows some torque to be transferred to the opposite side of the car. The brake isn't applied hard enough to stop the spinning wheels turning or the ABS ECU would loose the feedback from the sensors. TC works best in maintaining vehicle speed. It's not designed to get it moving if it's grounded!!
 
the freely 2 does seem far more capable in the problems you describe, mainly because the haldex will lock electrically before movement, whereas the vcu is always retarded in its behaviour.

I should have still been able to see the wheel pulsing though I would think?
 
Lol even with grip I think I would have struggled to get off that rock! looking back at my pics I took that pic after I'd tried to get off myself and noticed that I didn't think the TC was working, so I think if the wheels on the ground had turned you would be able to see it on the pic because as you say I think it would have dug a hole!
 
possibly either way Im not too fussed I was just a bit puzzled and wondered if it was yet another common fault, I feel quite proud that Ive managed to get an uncommon fault!!! lol
