I finally received a specific lead from the US and have now completed my set up.

Probably overkill for a car, but there are often times when I am left waiting at a gate and being able to watch a film or TV is great and my youngster also loves it....although I haven't got around to copying Glee for some reason :)

The set up:
1. about 30 films on an SD card stored in the unit
2. 3000 odd music tracks from an ipod kept in the Glove box and connected by USB, controlled from the Player
3. Iphone connected via USB and Video.
4. Rear view camera, now useable even if not reversing

With that I can use apps from the iphone controlled from the player or the iphone, specifically sat nav, and also have bluetooth hands free, and then have music playing from ipod; and all can be independantly controlled from the player unit. Using the (jailbreaked ;) ) iphone's 3G connection, I can also play TVcatchup, iplayer etc on the Pioneer; great for F1 when away :) I can even use the screen when using remote desktop to connect to my home/office PCs/servers

After playing with the settings, the sound quality is very good, probably helped by the HK speakers.

Oh, and the car is great. Just sailed through an MOT carried out a few months earlier than necessary as a final check that everything is sorted.

None of this would have been possible without your posts ;)

Did you have the becker sat nav system head unit? What is the new head unit? If you had the becker unit and the new unit takes ISOs, you do not actually need an ISO harness other than for steering wheel controls.

Ade, could you expand on the bit I've highlighted please?

I've fitted an Alpine CDE-W235BT to my 2006 TD4 HSE in place of the becker unit. The main ISO plugs from the loom obviously just plug straight in but, of course, I'm left with the three smaller plugs for the CD Changer and Steering Wheel controls.

Are you saying there's an adaptor to somehow incorporate these back into the set-up?

i bought mine without any nav software and am running igo8, runs well and has never got me lost!

don't buy from the seller in your link cos yoy will end up paying import duty and vat, search ebay for a uk shipped unit.

Cheers. Constantly searching the uk but no joy with the particular Eonon unit I was after :( Will keep on looking, might have to change my choice.

cheers anyway mate

im gonna have to hit google

i went throught the first 40 pages and all i learnt was that it was raining when someone was fitting theres

ok, you got me! there was a lot of waffling in that thread!!!

you will need the double din surround (ctr 24 lr03) and a harness adapter (PC2-80-4) you don't need the cage that you put the link to.

has yours got the harman/kardon sound system?

Hi Guys

Ive read this from page 1 right up to the last ! I have fitted a double din system into my freelander and now have just the steering wheel controls not wired. Its a td4 hse with a six cd changer. My wiring appears to be different colours! if anyone has anymore information I would be extremley grateful (having spent several very frustrating days on this already).
Cheers

Hi

The unit wires are well marked, its the ones from the vehicle I'm having trouble with.
the only wires I have left are
Black
Pink
Pink / Black
Yellow / black.
all on a separate plug

I do have a red/black wire but its for one of the speakers and no solid white.

Thanks for replying.

80 pages strong and still counting!!!!

Was this thread good or what, a bit long in places but hell knows no limits......

Well it's been god knows how long since we started this and the unit is still working as good as before, I've had to disconnect the battery once to un-jam the sat receiver, but thats it, works great.... plus your able to update the maps! Remember that!!

For under £200 if you time it right you can have a all signing all dancing head unit and headrests, reverse cam, sat nav, tv.... its worth looking into.

It's great to see so many peeps have now done this, however hippo I can't bring myself to look at your profile pic, O how I miss your old one haha

Marky, hows your maps going, you managed to update them yet, gotta be getting on now??

What have I been upto I hear you ask, well I've spent some time in Climbing Mountains in Canada, changing jobs, and playing with another new toy....

So....the wanderer returns!! Hope all is well and loving the new wheels mate!!!

Funnily enough I was going to drop you a pm about maps  ;) ;)

Will have a look see and let you know, OK;)

Its starting to snow, guess what I wont be using next week then?

Now thinking about bull bars.....again, some nice chrome ones...... but thats another thread haha

bloody hell !!!

you two trouble makers are still on here and posting on the lovely 80 page strong GPS NAV thread... oh those where the days !! lol

how you guys been keeping ?
long time no speak :)

got a hell of a load more sophisticated electrical systems now with my motor.. makes a freelanders wiring seem easy in comparison LOL

as you prop know, gave up with my Chinese unit in my freelander, sworn i wouldn't go down the Chinese route again... but a year on i went and got one for my range.... but its solely been designed for the range rover, ie fits in the dash and works with the electrical systems... and it was £500 !! but this one is pretty good i must say - i hope so for that price anyway ! lol
