There's ya answer - £50 a night or £120 for three.

Better still yu know your costs. Divide by the peeps that attended this year and there's ya basic costing.

Mind yu - if peeps complain about the price of the beer.......

It natural to complain about the price of beer....it's genetic or sommink...

If it was free we'd moan it was in a straight glass :D

Maybe less chasing cows round a field, at 07:00 on a sunday morning..

Hey Up!!!

I don't need people saying I'm a sexual deviant. (to prevent further rumors I'll admit to it now).

However certainly not at that time in the morning.

I did sort of half wake up in a drunken haze when I heard the cows bellowing and whisper, 'not now my love'.

As for the event, there was room for both helpful criticism and praise for what went on. Everyone there seemed to enjoy it, those that wanted to be there but couldn't make it for whatever reason may be able to make the next one and others will never turn up no matter how perfect all the arrangements are.

Well worth a repeat visit even if I did do my back in.

What would be really helpful is if the people who feel that a north/south split or those who need accommodation on site could help in the search for such a site. This is where local knowledge may come in handy. I can gather the 42 places I contacted together so we don't duplicate work. I know BB and Ginge contacted a few places too .

Maybe if more people looked we could come up with an alternative place for accy and roy to consider for next year's bash.....you need to get costings for the site, whether it has a per unit cost or a flat hire rate. It needs to be a site that potentially can accommodate maybe 200 + units.....we had 58 this year and approx 100 people over the weekend.
You need to look at something with facilities for campers, caravaners and electrics and water supply. All of those sites and costings could be forwarded to accy to then decide .

Have to say ...Stanford Hall was an amazing site for kids ...loads space for them to run about and build dens etc. Any potential site would have to be kid friendly. ..no rivers or lakes/ponds nearby.

i wouldn't stress or start bothering researching anything yet.

get all the feedback in first, you might find that there is only a small percentage who really care about having one up north.. therefore it doesn't matter and stanford is a great find.

I'd just use this thread to collect ideas when fresh, then when you come to do anything sift through the junk and pull the good ones out.

People travel all over the world to attend events and conferences.. a few hours shouldn't really make a difference. It's more about timing and activities imo :)

If we were meant to ride horses, and I still couldn't have reached the Shetlands, they'd have a brake and throttle ...

And for those who worried about the beer and prices, I took and drank me own .. I suggest that way anyone can drink anything they want and enjoy it. Juliet loved the beers on sale, I ain't keen on real ales, so took cheap crap ... but did buy one to try ...

For me it wasn't about location, personalities, hotels, camping or whatever, it was about acknowledging the forum and what the people behind it have put in for 10 years, and what we are able to get out of it, FOR FREE! I donate a little, which is about all I can afford, and this was a way to show more support for the forum, not a chance to score points against personalities.

Frankly I'd have gone anywhere, whether in the South or North or wherever, I just made sure I saved the pennies to afford the fuel (Jeez but a 19j is thirsty after a 300Tdi).

I don't care where it is next year, the only thing that'll stop me attending is if I've already arranged something before the dates are published, and even then 'it depends', or a catastrophe.

Succinctly put!

Me and the ol man were discussing next year. We may be getting a new tent especially :D

The location was good , yes of course id have liked it to be in Wales but who wouldn't want it closer to home. At the end of the day Stanford Hall was pretty much central to the UK with good connections in my view making it an ideal venue. If people can't do the trip themselves then why not double up in cars to save fuel. I did this although not intentionally as my journey was 200 miles or there abouts it worked quite nicely and meant that it was possible for us both to come where as otherwise both of us would have had problems.

Just one more thing to id like to point out is that if the event is good enough people will travel to be there. As an example an unofficial event run by a small group of volunteers in the DAF club back in 2010 actually had people travelling from Ireland, Vermont USA, and France to be there despite the fact that lots of people within the UK had simply said Colchester is too far to travel and didn't go.

Keep the event where it is, its a good location and I very much doubt you will find better. I am also more than happy to help with arranging things for next year just let me know whats needed. (Might even be able to provide some food from the small holding)

One of the events major hits, the tent for the kids, took Roy & Paul about 2 hours out of their way just to pick up a screen.
Paid for by them enjoyed by many, I suspect that like a local site to me that used to have monthly meets, the complaints outweighed the effort put in by the organisers, now there are no meets.
Use it or lose it, this is your first one, give encouragement, turn up if you can, please accept the imperfections they will always be there.
:)

Everybody that were involved with organising the event did a fantastic job, did feel sorry for Kirsty though as every time I went for food she was working. Well done to you all, hopefully it will be Stanford hall next year but even if it's in the outer Hebrides I will be there 😊

Wonder if we could persuade Flux to get the Adrian Flux girls to attend next year. Know all on LZ are not at all attracted to the idea of nubile well endowed young women not wearing an aweful lot and are more than happy with us middle aged , haggard, old bags that inhabit LZ ( ****...actually that's just me ...the other burds on lz are gorgeous  ) vut it could be edukashunul them handing out info on flux to read whilst having a photo taken .

for flux sake sam.you aint like that so stoppit.

Id like naked ladies of the pole please next year, if not I'm going to whinge about it and say you didn't try hard enough to accommodate my needs.

I didnt attend, but for a few reasons, distance was'nt an issue as if I wanted to be there I would of been,
but would of maybe turned up for a day or two if it was a pay on the gate option, as I dont always know what Im up to weeks ahead,
also maybe if it was over the bank holiday weekend at the end of May, as it gives an extra day for recovery, lol.
And perhaps as its a landy meet something with off roading on site, as there are a few p+p sites that also allow groups to hire the site exlusively with camping, and one of them even has a clubhouse onsite which when we visited had a chapter of hells angels meeting there, and running the bar, only sold cans but was a meeting point, that was in Wales and I know a few on here have been there aswell,
And where ever you have the meet, maybe publicize the location aswell as the event as even now I dont know without going through the thread, where it was held

brilliant, but to late now, look at every landy show, its called Billing, Peterbourgh, Newark, Driffield etc, cos were lazy fookers and cant be arsed searching for info

I'm definitely coming next year, just so happened that it fell on the missus' birthday meal, otherwise I would have come.

To be honest I was a little apprehensive anyway, but seeing what went on, and the good time had by all, I think I will definitely make more of an effort for next year, and I dare say others would to, seeing the good time had by all.

Only if it's muddy :D

I was quite surprised there were so few people who made the effort to be there to be honest, distance for a few yes as it was scary enough for me going 200miles on insa turbos with a caravan BUT the area was quite central for a lot of members so there cant be many people further than that who will attend? a big concern is breaking your vehicle and then trying to get home which is what I was moest worried about myself
