Hi I may be wrong here and sorry if I’m being finicky but here on eBay this chap is selling a LR defender saying completely solid etc original paint but the crossmember looks rusty with a patch welded on 223597626086 eBay item number

You are indeed being finicky! Unless I’m having a blind moment, I can’t see a rusty x member with patch. The rear x member looks in good nick, admittedly there is a scratch on the top length of it that might be mistaken for a patch?

I agree, it looks like a scratch. Regardless of how a seller described a vehicle, you should always view it prior to bidding, one person's 'good' can be another's 'shoddy'

Is it a vehicle you’re interested in? Looks quite nice.

I’ve been looking at utility defenders as mines only a 2 door van and looking for a 4 door more practical for the kids, but having a look they are so expensive!

Anything any good these days is chuffin expensive. I got lucky when I got my 110 CSW 6 years ago, looking at comparable vehicles for sale now the asking price has nearly doubled!

Seems OK if it’s as good as it looks with only 60,000 miles

A bit tatty round the edges easily fixable if you are bothered about it.

Wonder what the reserve is.

£10,000

Reserve not met.
The auction shows what they are really worth. People are asking too much for these vehicles at the moment!

There are some mad prices, but at £10,000 that doesn’t look half bad, obviously subject to a proper examination.

Maybe contact the seller and see how much they were hoping to get.

Looks like rear axle has been painted recently.
Would love to see door bottoms, usually pretty bad but you never know.
Would have thought dealer would know to show better photos and not just the clean shiney bits unless.........

I’m definitely having a blind moment! Which photo can you see the rear axle ?

Didn’t bother asking, looked tarted up nicely but something didn’t quite ring true on that one I don’t think

Looks superficially nice.

Clagged up for sale maybe? Quick “bog and blow” spray job

Only a viewing would determine that.

Definitely! If you look close at the rear x member there is what appears to be a rust hole? Obviously not the end of the world if there is but surely sort that out and not spray it?
