From what you explained on the phone, that chuffing sound seems like a valve not closing at the right time so poss cam belt slippage.....

Geoff just had a look at workshop manual that crank pulley bolt is torque to yield so will need a new one when we change the pulley!

I'll just do what I do best..... "SELL IT" lol

Nooo dont sell it from what you say it seems like a good one if it is the cam belt its a easy fix.... a few hours and maybe some pushrods
And if not the cam belt?? can I sell it then lol? I've seen a nice "frontiera" for sale lol

Yeah have got a LR manual and read up on it, got new seal and bolt on order, they need torquing up to silly PPF not sure my one goes that high will have a look tomorrow. Will get some red OAT for rad as well. Apart from parts is there anything else I might need.

You will not sell it young man, you will fix it, then break it, then fix it again in a never ending cycle of frustration and despair like the rest of us.

Ya right Geoff, I'm NOT selling this one! I'm going to fix it (and I'm going to try and do it myself "its time I learnt to get handy with a spanner" with the help of some of you guys to show me what to do! - be proud of me tho, I managed to take off a broken shock today & that was only because you showed me how to replace my top shock bushes :) the trouble is my tools are from Argos!

milk if you want tea.... dont think theres anything else.

Just checked my torque wrench only does 260ftlb think it needs 360ftlb i may be able to borrow one but will be 3/4 drive.

One atb and one locker, but not normal ones and surprised they came in ashcroft boxes because there made by quaife, just waiting for the shafts and cv's then will spend some time pinning the diffs and setting them up, then time for a little play and see how they do

When the new bolt arrives I will buy a 3/4 socket to fit.

How come you went for the quaife over ashcrofts own?
Have you got the tools to fit the diffs and Pegg them yourself?
