I'd like to know what you think after the laning next weekend. It may just be my next purchase along with some terrafirma HD steering bits :)

Only done a few miles on the road but steering deffo returns quicker, steering feels a lot tighter having done the ball joint on drop arm as well. Will let you know how it feels after a bit of off road work.

Finally got it all back together, swivel pin bearings both sides done, terrafirma HD steering arms and RTC damper on, back on the road but still got a f@@king knocking thought it was brake pads, but it's not. Doing my head in now, gonna have me dinner and a bottle of red and think about it again tomorrow.

Looking very nice.

How annoying re the knocking.
I'm not very familier with defenders (or Disco's come to think of it) but when the Disco was knocking it turned out to be the back door. The hinges have dropped very slightly and it sometimes bounces on the door catch or the block used to guild to door shut.

Hope you get it sorted soon.
I'm having my own troubles tonight - Will be posting an update on my "Disco 300 TDi 2" lift " thread in a few min's.

Thanks Nick, but Defenders don't have a back door under the front wheel arch, thats where the noise is

Nice RTC there Geoff, i'll be replacing mine when my old'n get knackered.....lol

Chris what time you at the w'shop tomoz morn?

loose shock?

No, goes in time with the wheel thats why i thought it was loose brake pad. am now thinking it may be a uj as i have just replaced them all and i put the yoke back out of line ( where ever that is as all searches say different) and one of the uj's did feel a bit tight. Will drop each prop in turn to make sure.

I thought it was in the running gear when I was in it the other week. Still, can't be too important or it'd of broken

Have been wrapping a fiesta van most of this afternoon - all done now thank god!

Check your UJ's again. All bearings were definatly fine. No ****e round/in the brakes?

Has it got worse since I heard it?

I also heard that **** can get into your diff through the breather holes and actually click on the inside of the axle

I guess you already know this, but be sure to mark the prop and yokes so they go back on the same way, especially if you take the spline out. I did all uj's recently and did not put them back the same and now i have a vibration when i decelerate, also thinking this could be cause of the knocking.
If we can both make the 18th perhaps we could meet and drive up to the start together.

Sounds go to me as long as my over half is feeling ok as she had her arm pinned at the begging of the week me and little man will be there

Exhaust has defiantly made a difference to the power behind the engine :D Hoping I'll gain back a few mpg's now I have a full system!

Nick, I got your bits from Brian.

Brian, sunroof is still leaking so will check those pipes we were talking about, if not I might be after your sunroof seals. I forgot to ask you about those sun visors too - I was only half there today :( Hence I tried running off without paying :D
