Oh, while I remember... Does anyone know what thread size the breather holes in the axles have as I can get parts from a friend who does pneumatics. Are the threads then the same all round for the gearbox, etc??

Be up for thursday laning, but same deal as last week, only if the new starter motor turns up and I have time to get it MOT'd.

PS forgot - welcome Spike:D

Thanks dude! - hope we can meet up - your laning trip sounds interesting! - will let you know if I can come (hope you don't mind a noob tagging along!!)

Stu - Yeah, the lane was in Suffolk, and you're right, I don't have stearing/diff guards - will look into it once I get some coin

BTW - I am not mechanically minded  - but if you want your computer/laptop looked at or a website written, I'm your guy! :D

Hope the MOT goes OK. Would be good to met up if you can.

Spoke to Landypart this morning and they want it for the cambelt Thursday so they can do it on Friday..... can't come :(

Sorry to hear that, but best to get it sorted.

I am now closer to my credit limit
But........
Snorkel is ordered, Southdown one rather than the Safari one :( but i guess I'll learn to love it?

I didn't like the look of the southdown initially but had a look at Stu's and I suppose I can put up with it lol! Nah, it wasn't too bad. It does the job and they are quite neat. You can always spray it a different colour.

I am defiantly going for a southdown and I might spray mine Epsom Green, same as the landy just to make it a little less intrusive.

Do you want to come round one day and we can both have a snorkel fitting day?? Got all the tools here :)

When you think about a Steering Gaurd, Matt and I know where to get one for a good price new.

And you think I am Mechaniclay minded, lol. you will learn you brought a Landy, welcome to hrs of drit oil grease and tools.

Over the weekend I noticed a bit of fluid on the inside of the rear passanger wheel, looked under the Disco the caliper was covered, the level of Brake Fluid was down , so I toped it just incase, but the smell of EP90 sort of gave it away, so today Had no work :( so trundeled to Landypart, got the following

Stub Axel Oil seal
Stub Axel washer
Hub Seal
2 x Hub Bearings
Lock nut
Drive flange washer.

Luckly I still had some EP90 left from the Axel oil change, last weekend, got home got me tools out, and started to unboult things, lol, wheel off, the hub was sort of just flooting about...

well took it apart removed the Stub axel, the seal was knackered, put it all back together, as i was there save doing the bearing at a later date, and bearing in mind how flooty the hub was, wacked in new wheel bearings, put it all back together, refilled with new oil, took it for a drive, seems to be ok now.

Think I may just do the only bearing left to do over the next month or so the others have gone so it cant be far behind.

I don't think they are inferior, just i prefer the style of the Safari. But i much prefer the cost of the southdown:D:D:D

Fitting them at the sometime sounds good to me.
Glad you got your leaking hub sorted! becoming a dab hand with those bearing:p

Just got myself a new air filter so will clean the box up and fit that a little later.
Nice to see the sunshine again - now i'm back at work. At least the evenings are a little lighter. Hopefully see you Thursday

Hi lads hope you all had good weekends.
My weekend ended early as the rangey took to not wanting to run, the AA man blames the ecu as no spark or injectors :(. So im out of action for the time being and the money for the snorkel will go to fix this for now lol. I will try to get some pics up soon of mine..

Finally back on line, a week without internet ffs.
hope all is well in land rover land.
Nick was really looking forward to a few lanes, but today a really grinding crunching noise from front drivers side, keeps coming and going dont think its brakes think a bearing might be gone, am praying its not anything worse , but if its a bearing would it not make a noise all the time???
have not had a chance to jack it up and have a look, if anyone has any ideas i would like to hear them.

Sorry to hear that, hope you get it sorted soon.

I took the air box off this evening and cleared all the sand and mud out, fitted new filter, cleaned all ducts, bit of rust inhibitor on the inner wing. Job done.

Seemed to start easier, proof will be tomorrow when its on a cold start.

I now think the leak I found is a Diesel leak. Its on the drivers side and is landing on the diff. Only minor (so fare!). Just done a few searches and wonder if its the fuel leak off pipes.

I'll have a better look tomorrow, maybe take some pic's

Oh bad luck - its never ending this:doh:
Maybe its something stuck in the caliper?
I might try and get my wife an Alfa, maybe then I'd get a bit more symphony.
Hope you get it sorted soon, would be good to met up on Thursday if you can.

Thats what mine was like , i found that the rubber mat on top of the engine sometimes rubs if you dont put it back right, I got a bit of the tube if you is desperate., need to do mine as i did a temp set a couple of months ago, and got a meter of the braided pipe but never got round to replacing the pipe i used.

good to have ya back Geoff,

My drivers side front bearing made no real noise at all, the passanger side covered it up, lol, I think they can give a noise on and off. they easy to do, lol, I've had to do four in the last couple of weeks, lol.

Were your just worn.
How long do they take to do, not that i have the time yet. might get a mobile mech to do them , if ones gone the other wont be far behind in collapsing
