You could put an M50 B25 or B20 in it... Straight six naturally aspirated and bomb proof also of the same sort of year (early to mid 90's)... Seems fitting. I'm pretty sure it fits quite well. Not done one my self though I must sayCurrently running a 2.5n/a Diesel on a 1992 ex military Defender.
Due to the impending ULEZ restrictions near me, looks like I will have to change to a petrol. what engine is the easiest and best fit and what is involved (laymans terms) in doing so.
cheers
Be been looking, they’re actually surprisingly quite expensive. Would bearing stay the same?2.5 petrol if you can find one
I’ll check that out, thanks. You could put an M50 B25 or B20 in it... Straight six naturally aspirated and bomb proof also of the same sort of year (early to mid 90's)... Seems fitting. I'm pretty sure it fits quite well. Not done one my self though I must say
bearing ? it would bolt up to the box and fit on your engine mounts and buy a std petrol exhaustBe been looking, they’re actually surprisingly quite expensive. Would bearing stay the same?
Spellcheck It meant to read Gearing. Thanks mate.bearing ? it would bolt up to the box and fit on your engine mounts and buy a std petrol exhaust
same box 2.5 petrol and dieselSpellcheck It meant to read Gearing. Thanks mate.
Perfect thanks. Initial searches not proving fruitful!same box 2.5 petrol and diesel
Your first question is a very good one and the answer is that I use it very little. I think the writing is on the wall though as the ULEZ zone is branching out near me. The implications are a £12.50 per use in the zone. As with all these penalties they will create an income and so they will spread and rise in cost. I’m trying to get ahead of the curve. How much do you use the vehicle? What are the implications of doing nothing? I'm not up on ULEZ regs.
As for best and easiest. They are unlikely to be the same thing. A Rover V8 is better in every way than a 2.5p but is slightly more work to fit.
Yes I would think so.Will they except an engine/fuel change?
Yes I would think so.
As a matter of interest does the vin say its a 2.5n/a? Civvy's were 200tdi of that year and thats shown on the vin.Currently running a 2.5n/a Diesel on a 1992 ex military Defender.

Yes Exactly. It’s a nightmare. They should have let existing cars off but new ones should have to comply. It’s almost like when they made us change from a Petrol to Diesel! Its nuts, just checked all our cars, all diesels euro0 to euro5, none are ulez free, so picked a random disco 3 v8 petrol reg number off ebay, and voila its free!

Read that article. Twas interesting, but he does have access to a shedload of parts! You could 'convert' your diesel engine to a petrol. Richard Hall has done just that on Page 35 of this month's Land Rover Monthly. It seems straight forward enough, if you can wield a spanner and you have access to the necessary conversion parts.
