Morning all,

After nearly 12 years relatively fault free service, I've now sold my Rangie :(. I've got rid of the Caravan and bought a Campervan. Will have another one in the future! Daily running about now delegated to my Senator and Royale. Will still read Landyzone!!

Update!!!
When I got rid of the Range Rover, it was to a Range Rover specialist who was going to do it up and split the profit with me (after offering me a fixed sum).
Unfortunately the specialist has had a heart attack and is behind in other work-so mine has not been touched.

I had bought a camper van-expensive bloody motorhome--but that has gone tits up-I'll post a story if anyone is interested!

So going to return to caravanning so I will need a tug.

Getting the Range Rover back in a couple of months after quite a bit of work is being done to it-new battery, locks and immobiliser issues sorted, air con fixed, roof lining replaced, sunroof fixed, leaking rear screen fixed, full service including gearbox and axle oils, sort dodgy height sensor and MOT.
I could have bought a newer model-but this has served me well for 12 years (battery is nearly 14 years old on it). The cost of the work is around £1000-which I would rather spend on a known vehicle.

Will keep the forum updated.

So what is the saga with the camper, I know they cost a lot but don't normally do much mileage.

Sorry for the delay-but it's only today it's been finalised.

Bought this July.


Had quite a few problems with it-now refunded by dealer.

Yep-it's getting a few things sorted.
Door locks, sunroof, new battery, mot, service, new rear window seal, new headlining, air con fixed. It's going to cost about £1000-but as I've had it for 12 years-it's a known quantity. Don't think I've spent a £1000 on it over the 12 years-set of tyres, exhausts and 4 new airbags oh-and Rick the Pick unlocking the BecM-so may be over.

I'm a long term admirer of motorhomes & although not owned one for many years I do have friends that enjoy breaks either in one or a trailer 'van.
The one comment that they all make is that, despite the sky-high prices of new/recent examples, the quality is poor value for money these days. Two couples I know had to return their purchases to the supplying dealer several times for faults to be rectified, seems that aftersales service is a joke.
Dream choice? A nice size 'C' class with V8 & auto-box, LHD doesn't phase me as I've owned US WW2 trucks in the past.
Trouble is I've nowhere to keep it, so the dream will persist :(
 
Build quality of the British built ones does appear poor. This one was already riddled with damp and was happily leaking from both skylights.

That's appalling considering the rig looks to be relatively new, do you know who built the coachwork & how old is it?
 
Opel Senator and Vauxhall Royale Coupe (similar to Monza).

Like all of them. Those 3.0 Senators were bullet-proof. The Carlton GSi wasn't a bad motor either. And the Lotus Carlton went for silly money last time I looked. Mind you, any damp in the air and they disintegrated into brown dust.
