Update, following a posting by Woogoo, I will put my Idiots Guide to replacing airbags on the CD.

its good to offer and obviously ppl will benefit but a cable for eas is so easy to build it would be foolish for ppl not to attempt it!!! i mean you can splice in an old serial mouse cable if your so inclined( as i have done) to achieve a fully dedicated port for eas!!

a bit of research would do alot off people's confidence the world of good!!

as for the software its diabolical that its sold and bouht when its freely available!!!

sometimes i think people need to be taxed for not making the effort to research or try to help themselves!!

do you think ppl who cant handle a soldering iron should mess with airbags on thier suspension?

Hi Gav, I agree with most of that, but a lot of good mechs cannot solder to save their life. Airbags no prob solder small stranded wire no way:eek: The most expensive bit is the OBD connector in small quantities and a mouse cable is really too short and since when did a mouse cable have a 9 pin DIN connector? You need 2 metres of cable at least to work outside the car for setting up heights etc.

Nah it's easy. Just set a low flame on the welding plant or you'll burn the wire insulation.:D:D:D
 
Can't understand why people who (Hopefully) read through the posts looking for info on EAS, don't go straight for the Storey Wilson Easunlock software straight away. It is mentioned often enough. It is fundimental to the system and very, very useful. Ok so some may not have a laptop. But old serial laptops running XP (the easiest ones to use) are ten a penny on Flebay, so for maybe a lot less than £100.00 you can have an all singing and dancing tool. It has to be the best value diagnostic unit available for the P38 by a very long way for working on the item on the P38 that can give the most heart ache, if it has not been serviced properly over the years. If used along with the information published on Storeys site and in RAVE, about just what fault codes can and can't mean, then there is no reason that after a while even the most inept mechanical mind could understand to a reasonable extent the system and how it functions.

i already had a serial to usb lead and a usb extention lead

the mouse was also kicking about the house!! so it cost me nothing, im not able to do other cars with it but i dont need to!!

easy peasy!!
 
I've actually got story Wilson's eas unlock suite downloaded for awhile now,was alway's going to get obd cable but never got round to it, suspension was fine up until recently, that's why I am now wanting get cable of datatek,did you get my pm datatek.cheers pat.
 
OK, the first batch of 10 cables are ready to test. I checked my cable and it was longer than I thought, so the cables are 3.5 metres in length, adequate to work around the outside of the car. I will start to burn the CD's tonight, a very slow process on my computer. I hope the whole lot will be ready to post by Monday.
Final price is £11 plus £2.67 postage if you pay by cheque or bank transfer. If you want to pay by thiefPal, addd £2 to cover their cross border charges and commission.
I will PM all those who have asked for a cable so far.
