Refreshingly honest.I had the bottom screen trim off and the pollen filter out before I remembered that the last job that i did was to replace the Hevac bulbs whilst I was in the dash fitting a dash cam.
HEVAC unit out, I'm an expert at that now, and yup, you guessed it, which plonker hadn't pushed the connectors fully home???
Thanks for all your help guys, it's wonderful to know that you're all out there, but for the moment I'm confident that the fault this time was the nut behind the steering wheel.
Looks like you get at it by dropping the glove box. My is the later one so have never played with the early version.

Thanks for your help but this was another area that confused me as mine is a late 2000 so i would have thought that it would have been the 'later' version in virtually everything.
Anyway, car back together so a quick wash and I'm off to do the fun bit - driving it.

Mines a MY 2000 and the sensor is behind the grill![]()
Looks like Land rover had a policy of throw what's left at them sometimes.![]()
