As for the EGR blanking, just a blank gasket of suitable material would work in whatever end and leave everything else connected;).
No need to get the welder out:eek:.

I've heard of the penny mod but also heard it doesn't last, the coin warps iirc. Doesn't the tube want blanking off too? Thought/read that it did...

In holiday mode already Alan  Glad you’ve got trip booked you’re overdue mate.

I know nothing about the dirty diesel,

For EGR / MAF well worth reading up @Datatek ‘s posts. Got the skills sets. Just don’t go mentioning fuel consumption in the same sentence/post/thread or they all turn to ****ing savages in here

Quite hefty when they come out. They won’t budge an iota then will start to slip but too much force and the bend snaps

Pulled some more bits off.
Inner wing liner off after a wrestle with the mud flap. Flap looks a bit ropey but I might be able to save it, that's on the back burner for now. I can see now where the brake lines have been renewed to.

Got the caliper off for a look-see.
Got one piston out and that's perfect , bore is mint too, once I get the other one out and if that's the same I'll probably clean them up, paint and reseal, save a few quid.
Does anyone know what size the multi point bolts are that hold the caliper carrier to the hub? Need to buy one:rolleyes:

2nd piston has a score so new pistons and a reseal.

Just noticed that I haven't cracked the big hub nut:eek: before I removed the wheels and calipers:mad:.
It's got to come off cos all the swivel ball joints need replacing:(

For what it cost for new calipers its not worth soding about with the old ones

bihex/triple square I used. Did this other day but ones I cut off were 6 point so there are variations. Replacement rear carrier bolts I ordered were M12 x 35 is that 19mm?
Give them good soak now while your there. Make that spanner a good one you’ll need it. Enery had good way he put bottle jack under the spanner to crack them off.
If you have the original Lucas callipers well worth rebuilding them they ain’t cheap and are better especially if you had 16’s on.

*reminds me got to get calliper off for @Bix
Il get on it mate

Old pic
It’s the 525 one I sprayed blue when I rebuilt it overnight instead of losing my job

Then later welded it together with the 1000cca by accident  was worth the £180 starter to see it make Wammers laugh
The replacement I have now is due to come out for check up. Makes weird noise sometimes on hotstart  wonder if there’s any blue left in the can?

I’ve got about 7 cans in the shed! People keep giving them to me and I’ve no idea why?? Red green and black ones. Like bloody midget gems everywhere. All empty. Last guy he’s old now so gave me a bag of odd old quality socket bits he had in his shed for my P38... ‘I’ve put these for you’ he said... 3 cans? I couldn’t say no I woulda felt bad or he might of asked for the sockets back :D

I’m stopping now. My posts are getting @Stanleysteamer proportions

Use a pound coin.

I got refurbed brake calipers from Eurocarparts during one of their deals and they were proper Lucas ones. The bolts are 12 point but cannot recall what size. Rimmers will have them.

Don't be daft, haven't you see how messy he is?? Would have been better with a washing up bowl. The starter was in his blue period, think there's a few more masterpieces around the engine that colour.;):D:D

That hub-nut is done up to FT lbs feet.

Carrier bolts are 19mm. Done them by cutting down an off set spanner and sliding a tube over it, that's the carrier off anyways.
Who was it that got the swanky orange leak off tubing, want to check that out.

It was Alan! :eek::D

There’s no proof he didn’t send me the swanky pipe in the post? I’m not complaining the postie is a damn smart woman but ones like that are always married, lesbian or something I’ve never heard of, no way they are single

Rear calliper carrier bolts are ftc 3375
Fronts are ftc 2996

I used heat but sparingly, didn't want to melt any rubber bits on or around the wheel bearing.
