Decided to remove the plenum cover to clean out the mountain of pine needles and sort the foam out.
Screws (6 iirc) only 2 came out with a screwdriver, the heads were too far gone on the others so I used a dremal with a cutting disc in it to cut a slot in the heads and they came out fine using a stubby flat head.

Spent way to long trying to get the wiper arms off until I belted the sides with a rubber mallet and they popped off. That's as far as I got today, the panel was still held fast somewhere which I now know, from googling, is more screws under the bottom windscreen finisher:rolleyes:.
I've read of some clips being unobtainable? Are they the ones under this bottom screen finisher??

Yup.have you disturbed the bonnet catches? If you have before you shut the bonnet just nip the catch bolts up then shut the bonnet, open it then tighten the bolts, the catches should align themselves. Otherwise it's a bugger to open the bonnet,;) Ask me how I know.:D

Yes the trim has clips that are unobtainable, I broke a few on mine but i'm a gorilla with little patience ;)

I'm sure it can be removed without breaking anything if you take ya time! ;)

I just removed one of the two bolts on each catch at a time so they didn't move.

There's loads of pine needles etc behind the trims and in the chamber. Just ordered some stainless steel screws to replace the nasty rusted original. Wheres the drains inside the plenum chamber?

Screw dimensions and site would be good. I need to do my bl**dy foam AGAIN.
4.8mm X 16mm pozi pan head in eBay.
Think it was kays fasteners, £6 odd for 30 which is too many but they will come in useful. Some screws were a little fatter and longer, the little short panels either end of the plenum iirc, but there was only 4 of them, maybe 6 and I was going to cut down the stainless steel tex screws I used for the mudflaps there. The ones up the windscreen Piller were also 4.8 X 16, think I counted 22 in total so I got 3 lots of 10 screws.

Cleaned all the muck out and found the drains I think. Tucked behind the pollen filter housings?.
Had a look at the lids as I've read they can/do warp and mine did have a slight warp and the foam seal was hard with bits missing, didn't leak into the cab though when Duchess was outside in heavy rain but probably would when driving in rain.

Decided to sand them flat again using my belt sander, this worked well when I tested for flatness on a sheet of glass.
I've glued closed cell camping mat to them and will trim them up when it's gone off tomorrow.

The clips on the lower windscreen finisher are unobtainable it seems. However, if you use my method of removing the trim, they don't break, at least that has been the case on the three I have done. You have to remove the windscreen side trims, screws behind the door rubber seal. Then with a good pair of pliers, jaws protected with cloth, grip the end of the lower trim and pull. With some effort it will slide off leaving the clips in place undamaged. The clips can then be removed without damage and refitted to the trim for replacement.:D

I did remove the side trims.
I got it off by gently prizing it up with a plastic ice scraper and luckily didn't break any but I have 3 missing. The edge of the channel on mine was crimped but I only noticed this when trying to slide the clips out. Might just be mine but worth checking before using your method. A flat bladed screwdriver easily straightened out the crimp, which was both ends.

No crimps on mine

Finished cutting out the white plugs in the kick panel. Having 2 teeth pulled tomorrow that broke last Xmas! If I feel ok after that Duchess (if it starts:rolleyes:) will be coming out of the garage for a wash and polish and recheck of fluids. If the stalling issue when put into drive is cured then I'll book the MOT otherwise I'll be getting the nanocom out:rolleyes:.

I used 2 4x4 girders to take my teeth out now they are like stars, they come out at night:D:D

Andddd.... she's out!
A wash and new wiper blades fitted.
Stalling issue is much improved but still doing it abit.
Would it self bleed? As I've replaced the fuel filter, forgot to fill it first:oops:, leak offs replaced too. I just bridged the pump relay until I saw the clear line had no air in it. It could do with a blast down the road really, to clear it's lungs and see then. Going to spend tomorrow getting insurance quotes, the 1986 110 is due in a few weeks and I need the Doris and myself to be on both policies so I might try and get the 110 on classic insurance or both on multicar or summito_O.
