More boring stuff it is then:D
Today, made two more aluminium plates to reinforce the rear mudflaps, same thing as I've done to the fronts already documented up there^^^^^ somewhere.
Also derusted the tank cradle ready for paint, think it would have rotted out in another few years judging by the corrosion in the centre well. It fills with water/mud and can't get out so I'll drill a drain hole in it before paint.the side that can be seen when fitted was mint, it has some sort of stone chip rubbery stuff on it with factory shiny black paint underneath so I've left that side alone.

Hole drilled

Looks a bit small Sir .... o_O

I read an study online about drain hole sizes*, such is the excitement in my life - but it was recommended by my MOT guy ... he said the manufacturers make em too small, and not enough of 'em ....

I wonder why they do that ...:mad::mad:

( I can't find it now  )

Minimum was said to be 10mm..... MOT man suggested 20mm - which is what I have done to various places on my D1 ...

I've one original sill on my D1, but it won't be there for much longer - in the meantime I've drilled 1/2" holes along the bottom every 8" to see if that slows the tin worms down .....

Downwards dimple flare  you posh bugger, thats what happens when you've had a Supercharged:rolleyes:
Aye...and could have benefitted greatly with the addition of about 100 dimpled flared holes, in fact it was so full of water at one point that the wiring loom would've had a much drier existence were it just blue-tacked to the outside!!! :p

I've bowed under forum pressure and the hole is now 22mm:p.
Some more bits arrived from island so I should be able to start rebuilding the rear hubs and brakes etc tomorrow.
Annoyingly, the two new long flexies that go to the calipers, one is britpart and has the new banjo bolt and copper washers, the other is not and doesn't:mad:.

Only reason I did BP flexi was for lack of banjo & washers, pipe was okay :( Couldn’t source all the little brackets and bits reasonably so got whole thing which did in fairness come with everything other than the bolts that I managed to reuse.

This hose island sent me is next to useless, no banjo, no washers, no bracket and no horseshoe clips. I'm putting in an order from paddocks tomorrow so I'll add another RH rear hose and hope it's britpart ( there's a novelty!)
This one has a G after the part number, looks like it's made by corteco.
That's slowed down finishing off the brakes.
Stuck the new rear dampers on and the derusted/painted middle silencer then decided to make the curly wurly rear brake pipes and realised the silencer was in the way abit so took it off again:oops:.

They dont look like originals

RH is normally drivers side but no way to tell if the supplier giving description has got it cock arsed best ask them or leave a note stating which side you want.

That makes it sound like Otto's spare wheel well when we got him. Previous owner didn't know it has about 3 gallons in it because he couldn't get the tail gate to work. Also suspect if he had known he wouldn't have had the nous to knock out the drain plug.

The pipes? Yeah, they were original, same coating as under the bonnet, sort of green coloured, and the bends were machine made.
I ask which side is which because I can rebuild one side with the britpart hose that has all the brackets/banjo bolt whilst waiting for the other britpart one to arrive. The britpart one ive got says left hand on it so rather than trying to work out which side it appears to fit best thought I'd ask here which is the left/right when viewing duchess.
So I can build up the passenger side if yer right...right:D
