I have a fuel leak on my dse, It looks as though its coming from the right hand side of the engine. Any idears?

Right hand side? I take it that you're standing infront of the engine, if so it's most likely the fuelpump that has developed a leak, the large topmost as well as small side gaskets are easily replaced. The gaskets / o-rings are inexpensive ~£2.50 for the large contoured top and a few cents for the o-rings.

Unfortunately if it's the lower contoured gasket the pump needs to be recalibrated or the engine wont start /run rough/rev like crazy.

Final worst case scenario would be the main o-ring on the output, high-pressure, side, it can be done but it involves taking half the pump apart.

For the top gasket you'll find a description here: VW TDI diesel Fuel Temperature sensor and injection pump top cover seal replacement

BTw, the security bolt can be removed by gently hammering on a 7mm socket (or paying about £25'ish for the actual socket

yes as you stand in front of the engine. Just had another look, and the leak is coming from the pump area. do you have the part numbers for the gasket etc?

The bosch # is "2 461 015 008-000"
VW #"028 906 040 c"

Any diesel mech should have them in stock as the same pump (vp37) is used in quite a few other cars such as bmw, vw, seat, citroen, renault etc etc

Thanks, i take it this is quite a common problem then? I now have a big puddle of diesel on my drive way :(
