Help!!!...Dronning/humming noise at about 60mph upwards, removed props and its goes away, refitted props with new vcu & bearing from bell engineering, noise is back, no clunking, slight play in inner cv joints not much, noise will go away when taken out of gear & free wheeling...Help...Lets here your guys..:D

Are your tyres matched front to rear? Is the VCU getting warm?? (austen from Bell engineering)

I had exactly the same with mine. Same sort of noise, I thought it was prop shaft bearings.

Checked the tyre pressure and the rears were both at 15PSI each. Pumped them up and the noise went away.

Have you replaced front or back tyres recently? If so you may be winding up your transmission. Landrover advise changing all four tyres at once to keep the diameters the same.

Sound advice ! however my local LR main dealer did not have a clue or could not give a toss , sold me a single tyre , and when i mentioned problems with mismatched tyres on freelanders was told that was a load of bull  i have learnt a lot since then ,
