I was hoping to sort mine out first as the defender needs a rebuild as her bulk head has completely gone. Needs my st I suppose
We used to soak shoes in petrol and burn the oil offAh. So is the Defender off the road as well? If not - & to get it mobile it sounds like a simpler fix obviously leaving the bulkhead for the moment - then do it first as that at least gives you a usable vehicle. Unless you've got other cars of course.
You MIGHT find that cleaning the brake shoes with 'Clutch & brake cleaner' will make them usable.
Could back then, got change from £1 when filling the tank on my vanYou can afford petrol???
Aye but your meant to remove them from the vehicle first ...We used to soak shoes in petrol and burn the oil off

I do hope it’s that, with a replacement LT95 now being £6000+ (3 years ago I got it for £340 on flea bay and he was hoping for £1200).
Don't call @Bix turdy he's not that bad. Bratwurst fingers I guess.Yeah, I like the LT95 as well! Diff lock works at all soeeds, the bix is turdy, accepts engine oil... And the noise at high speeds and the missing 5th hear are solveable. I'm just a tad worried about long term parts availability... Well, worst case one has to have the parts manufactured himself...
Well I’ve found out what it is……different ratio diffs!
After one full turn of the wheel the prop rotates.
Rear just over 1 3/4
Front just under 1 1/2.
Ok I can sort that, my worry is have I now broken something in the transfer box?
I was told if its used off road, not a problem, as I’m on tarmac, big problem with the box eventually destroying itself.
How do I find out the ratio, do you count the teeth on the crown wheel?
