Shot blaster and sprayer discovered 500m from my house. That opens up a few options. Wheels dropped in yesterday. Might put the roof in as well now.

Brethren, when using cork gaskets do you add gasket sealer or is it no no?
I don't use a gasket sealer, but depending on the usage will coat liberally with hylomar blue e.g. the fuel sender on the MGA which some genius of an engineer thought would be perfectly placed halfway down the side of the tank rather than in the top!

Jesus this durdy doosel is kicking my arse. Removed the manifolds this arvo, no seized bolts or nuts. Hardly expected it either as the engine is caked in congealed oil. Anyhoo, I notice the manifold gasket has a bit missing. The plan wasn’t to twiddle with the injun as it would be rebuild at a later date. Rocker, oil filler, sump and now the exhaust gaskets to replace and then to observe if it still leaks like a snitch. Durdy durdy doosels.

What’s wrong with it under he seat?
Early battery trays on S2 in engine bay but not always big enough for the large batteries needed for the engine crank time
Battery box under seat is rotten and needs replacing. As I have the space under the bonnet I was simply scoping the possibility of housing it there. I can then put tool trays under each seat base for the same price.

YRM do good battery/seat base items. Even do a conversion for the middle seat to have a tray under it.

You could always make a new one under the bonnet. Make from angle iron to size to suit

Its not like you are short of space if you leave the front end alone;)

Put it passenger side so cable run to alternator is shorter

Where is the air filter housing?
Driver side, oh and there is a defender coolant reservoir next to that which eats space.

that wert injun after it got gunked. Plenty of other parts removed now to clean off the oil and access things like the starter motor, engine to chassis earth etc.

Looks like where the screen wash bottle is may be the best. nice short leads to alternator and starter.
Smaller wash bottle in another position?

Aye good idea. Need to tackle the washer motor as it’s kaput so will look for an alternative spot.

As they are defender wings you could Fit the later style washer bottle in the same place that tucks under the wing sitting on the wheeL arch rather than moving.

Motivation is lacking,

I either a. do nothing b. go clean the en suit c. remove the stater motor, degrease it and ascertain why it’s sticking - burrits lunchtime nearly.

If I can find any motivation I think I’ll do the cleaning, cook some gyoza for lunch, starter motor, and then do nothing?

Have something to eat & then fall asleep under the motor….just don’t wake up in a hurry
