so the P38 hasn't had much use and its been wet and getting driven.

the central locking from the fob actions to unlock, the lock mechanisms clunk when the unlock button is pressed, but nothing when lock is pressed. fobs are good.

also on shut down key removed and door opened they message centre comes up with key in ignition when they has been removed. anyone any ideas ?

Mine used to do the ‘key in ignition’ after standing for a year or two. Bit of use it needed.
Not had door open message when it’s not - good run maybe get the damp out there of the circuits.

If it thinks key is in ignition, it won't lock.
Sometimes, when you take key out, if you tap steering lock barrel with tip of your finger, it will pop out but as above, it really needs lubrication.

The plastic shutter that the key moves when inserted is sticking, contact cleaner should do the job.
It will not lock with the key in message.

I was told never squirt graphite into a lock, put some (just a smidge) on the key and let the key distribute it instead.
But that might be total baloney. It certainly is the instructions for my high-security door's lock (big RED warning against squirting graphite in directly).

The lock only needs a dusting of Graphite, but it may not work for the plastic shutter, Servisol switch cleaner lubricant works for me

Are you calling me a beauty? Whilst I am visually stunning a beauty I am not.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I am amazed at some of the people that have managed to breed and indeed some that have (so far) failed.
