Hi All,

I have a Disco 2 2001, with a slight problem - the read passenger door will not open. One of the kids had trouble closing it so slammed it shut, now I just can not open it. The central locking pops up the linkage inside appears to be working but still the door will not open.

I have removed the inside panel and got my fat hands inside to feel around but I am not to sure what should be there or not as I just can not see. When the outside handle s pulled some linkage moves similar when the inside handle is operated. the child lock is not on so I have run out of ideas.

Is the an inside release catch I can operate to allow the locking clip to fall away so at least i can open it and repairs it.

Yes I have tried brute force and a significant amount of bad language but nothing, please help.

I don't know if its the same on a Disco II but on a I you can prise the LR badge off the outside handle and poke about with a screw driver to fix it

I have had this same problem. You can feel everything moving as you would expect but unfortunately what has happened is the cable ( like a bike brake lever cable) has come out of it's slot in the lock housing so the outer isn't clamped anymore and the inner isn't moving enough to release the catch. You need to try to grab hold of the cable and pull it, this released mine. I hope i have explained this well enough for you.
