I only got stuck when a patch of turf turned out to be a boggy hole and I lost a front wheel down it. The car pivoted diagnonally leaving a rear wheel up in the air. In this position the buried (berried?! :) ) wheel spun and so did the one in the air. Later models with the newer ABS system brake the free wheels, I think?

Anyway, luckily I got a tow out but if I'd been able to lock all wheels I'd have been fine.

From that perspective if I was going to spend some time kitting her up I'd rather have the ability to lock all wheels rather than big tyres or a snorkel. Obviously you're not going to want to do that for long or it'll kill your gearbox in no time.

dont think you will get any parts like that in the uk unless you can make or mad it yourself it seems to be only defenders or discos that you can get the parts for, anything remotely p38 off road had to come from usa :(

I believe you can get diff locks (Air lockers):)

Wow. As you say, almost as much as the car itself but that looks very interesting. In fact they look the dog's gonads.

Any downside?

Let's think up a hypothetical situation. You're heading up a rocky climb. You lose grip on a front wheel and a rear wheel so they spin uselessly while the other wheels are jammed in against rocks. Assuming you lock up all 4 wheels and give it some grunt in low ratio to pull it up over the rocks, what's going to feel it? Viscous coupling? Gearbox? Splines on the drive shafts?

Will anything break?!

I don't know how the lock works but if the diff is locked I would have thought that it is unlikely to suffer as it's doing nothing.
I'd love to lose the viscous and have a diff lock on the centre diff instead.

They might have something like that on there as well. Seem to remember some sort of limited slip differential where you could adjust it to your purpose.

lets hope someone comes up with a way of doing it :D

that is awesome cheers dude :clap2::clap2::clap2:eek:ne of the fellas on there rr evolution is on here :D

Snorkel fitted, it can handle a fair amount of water before the electrics get involved!

These aren't Chelsea chariots we're driving, they are actually fantastic at off road! I know from experience.
