Ok so I've got the chance to buy a sanky trailer but............

A) I have no idea of the condition its in other than its not obviously falling apart and looks pretty clean with good tyres.
B) I'm not sure I really have a use or space for it.
C) Is the £200 asking price right, I have no idea about these things?
D) If I do decide to re-sell will I at least get my money back?
F) Sod all of the above and buy it any way?

A) Not much to go wrong with a Sankey other than rust
B) Your call
C) About right, up to £450 for a very clean one, wide tracks sell for slightly more than narrows.
D) Yes
E) Yes

i have 4 sankeys , paid from 80 quid for a rough one to 300 for a goodun, they are rebuildable many times and very robust trailers, they will hapily tow double its plated capacity, i do thousands of trouble free miles a year with them. worth the money if its going to be worked, no good as a collectors item

Oh I reckon I can find some work for it alright!

I've been watching a few on the bay of fleas, and the reasonably crap ones are fetching £300+:eek::eek::eek:
As long as the tub is in reasonable nick, the chassis are pretty bomb proof i think;);), god knows how old mine is, and it had a bit of surface rust:D:D:D

the grey one i use behind my tractor, just needs a respray now, winter hammered it, the other i use daily on the 90 for work, i have 2 others one with a shotblasting compressor on and the other with a generator mounted on

and yes they tow fine one behind the other with linked wiring :)

you cant go wrong with a sankey. Our widetrack is a great trailer, other than the large amount of metal currently missing from the tub. The chassis is still fine though. If you have the chance go for it.

I love the idea of a trailer but have no idea what I would use one for. A flat bed car trailer would be handy. Can sankeys be modded for camping/expedition use or anything?

There is one on ebay at the mo that has been turned into a caravan type thing, not sure if its worth the bother though?

Might be able to fit a roof tent on one mind?

but nothing.........it is not a Q. of do you want one!
more a case of how can you possibly live without one?
the answer is an obvious NOOOO|||||
you will die a horrible death before Eastnor if you don't get one now.:D

I had a little Google after I posted that, and yes you definately can mod them for camping  some of them are more advanced than the trucks towing em :D

Many years ago I got on a coach in Berlin and was driven to Rhindalen to collect some landies. We arrived about midnight and were allocated our vehicles. I had grandfather rights on my license so had a trailer to pull. Being half dazed and wanting to get going we didn't first parade the vehicles, we drove non-stop through the night back to Berlin. It was only when we pulled into camp that I realized that I'd been pulling two trailers!!!!!!!!!!!

I want one
wot for (feck knows)
have i room (no)
have i spare cash (no)
