Hello,

I'm looking to refurb my alloys myself to save some pennies. My question is I have some Comet Alloy that I am going to refurb and wondered what spray to use to match?

You're unlikely to get an exact match if doing DIY (I assume spraycan?). But it really doesnt matter that much as long as both wheels on the same side are the same colour a slight variation with the other 2 will never be noticed.
Autoglym wheel silver is not bad.

hi Bobupndown,

Yeah I've gone with BMW titanium spray which looks nice. Will try it out tomorrow. Hopefully won't look too poo

Been thinking about doing mine as they're starting to flake and look crap. I'd appreciate some before and after photos if possible please.

Ive resprayed wheels before and like any painting most of the work is prep ,one thing i will say is the paint is never as hard as powder coat and always seems to get stone chips and can come off in places where the tyre machine touches ,but if you keep some paint you can touch them up yourself

Powder coat is the way forward but its not cheap

You could use BMW Felgen Silber - its the "standard" silver wheel finish - finish off with a coat or 2 of clear laquer

As said above - the secret is in the preparation

I would say, try and save to get the wheels blasted and powder coated, I had mine done and matched to original darker silver, if you take the wheels to a coater your looking at £50-60 per wheel for strip/prime/powder coat & acrilic lacquer. Or £30-40 for strip and powder coat in a standard colour, it depends what colours they have in stock.

I looked at powder coating mine as I had done on my defender but the cost was so much more and to be honest wasn't perfect as the coating got chpped and water got underneath. I primed and painted my silver mondials to gloss black with a few coats of lacquer to finish. 12 months on they are still perfect.

Yeah powder coating is a bit pricey. I'll pop down to halfords this weekend and get some BMW Felgen Silver das auto paint. I've been meaning to do it for weeks however the wheels are in my shed where there are several False Widow spiders living which I haven't been brave enough to tackle yet :(

Might give it a DIY go and if it turns out **** then go for the powder coated option. Where did you get yours done?
