problem back air in system again ????? only thing to do now is change front fuel pipes or get the head pressure tested thats all thats left really there must be a leak on the return pipe sumwhere
 
im going to do a full test on the fuel lines today to see if the problem is that if it does it then i know its not the head but if it doesent do it its the head... im going to put the two lines in to a drum of diesel turn ignition on let all the air go so its primed and then leave it for a bit and turn it on again to see if its got air in the system again ...
 
Hope you manage to get it sorted out , I have my TD5 backin the garage today with the same problem , not had the same amount of parts fitted as you have , if not sorted this time Car is been refered top trading standards from consumer protection department.Im hoping they can sort the car as i love it when works right.I will be using it for work traveling up and down the country . so it needs to be right.doing 10 miles to gallon at moment but it does have its moments when it runs correctly. does about 27 to gallon then . just will not run correct long enough to get a good idea of what the mpg should be.I starting to regret buying the thing now I should of stayed with old faithfull 200tdi.
 
yeah the old buses .. mine was doin around 36 on a run wich i thought is good still leaking diesel but cant find wer its coming from and losing power missing to pump is full of air in mornings to ive had enough to its never let me down really till now its a great disco untill now with this unsolveable problem let me know the out come of yours thanks mab1
 
Sounds like the fuel pump is not supplying the correct fuel pressure and is tailing off at revs have had the same problem on other vehicles. dosn't sound like electrical as fault would be there all the time.try pressure test and poss new pump.
 
:rolleyes: Well engineer took my TD5 away on Monday 6.pm and rang me Tuesday 5.00pm ,car ready to collect.
went and picked car up Engineer said he had replaced a injector. Engine did sound a little pingy/ticky on one cyclinder.
Next day I manage to get sometime off work and went for a drive to a TD5 specialist. Plug in his Computer (Not Autologic dont do enough on the TD5 He said)checked all the settings and Said that between 2100 and 2200rpm the engine was not correct.Anyway he found the fuel map was set to rest of the world and not UK as it should be,he reprogrammed the ecu with the correct data and car appears to be ok at the moment . I will be more Confident with it if it lasts longer then Xmas.trouble is You just get back your confidence that it is repaired and then it will start playing up again.
So upto now it has had

fuel pump
fuel filter
fuel additive (cleaner)
injector

all the snsor and injector harness have been checked all appearss ok.

So I will let you know the outcome in the new year if it lasts that long.

question what MPG should gs auto return , i dont thrash it drive it conservatively. its currebtly returning 12 - 15mpg is that because its been playing up
 
28/35mpg, in that sort of region.

They are all different, a friend can get 40 on long motorway runs if he uses cruise control.
 
happy new year Ultra150 .Had New injector just before Xmas , appeared to run 90% better but now back to normal.Misses on tickover and 2750 -3000 rpm surge.
Was hoping you had got it sorted as well.I have spoken to the dealer again this morning and he is going to have a word with the engineer and is going to replace all the injectors ? Dont think he knows the cost of these things me self.and I have my doubts if he will do this.
What as been replaced on yours. I have browsed other forums and it is a know problem by sounds of it and is normally caused by oil in the harness.working its way down to the ecu and shorting out the large caps in the ecu which fire off the injectors.
My harness is bone dry ,ecu is clear no signs of fuel leakage or anything similar.
I have spoken to a engineer who as mentioned that the fuel regulator as a gauss mess behind it which also acts like a filter, dont know if this as been checked.If i do get it repaired i will post a message asap to you. in the mean time Good luck.
 
im sick to death of it now wen driving down bypass up the rev range through the gears it misses and shudders and goes after 3500rpm to 4000rpm then pulls like a train and then you let of and give it sum again and it misses and judders again. pump still wines in mornings done everything to it now and no joy air in system cant find were its getting in. some times it goes in to limp mode when reving up the rev range and lose most power only in 4th gear it does it. so i give up no one seems to know ?????
 
I know how you feel mine is not as serious as yours and im pulling me hair out.I reckon Once you find were air is getting in you will sort it ,took mine to a different guy today. he checked the fuel pressure and it still is bouncing all over , Wonder if anyone out there as had this problem.had 3 injectors replaced on it a little better but still not right.its only still doing around 22-23 mpg AT BEST .
I still have some warranty left 5 - 6 weeks going to see te dealer see what he has to say ,his engineer as given up now.
the trouble is i have friends who have the same td5 gs same year and return a better mpg then mine with more milage on the clock 85k and 129 k,mine 48 k.
will let you know if i find out what is causing the fuel surging.
 
hi ok thanks my injectors are really noisey to latley at low revs and when letting of the revs going slow the over run on engine dnt know why they have gone noisey... but when you give it sum they are normall??????
 
hi my injectors have been playing up to so me and my mate checked them and they wernt set up write all out of sync as they were noisey. then i put it on test book and im getting over boost which i will sort out monday by changing actuator selanoid and the sensor in manifold checked pipes no splits or holes so it should be ok after them sensors. that was the only fault code stored. pulled the pump out today and noticed it was covered in black residue and knew what that was injector seals and washers i dnt think they have been done when they said they were thats where the leak is to where air is passing and causing air to get in to the fuel system all along making the pump wine in mornings or wen left for a bit . its exhaust gases making the pump black so its going back first thing monday morning and im going to watch them fit them this time???????
 
injector seals and washers it is i hope any way but was reading a few forums and they are saying the same thing injector seals washers causing air to enter fuel system exhaust gases i thought mine had been done like they said they had. intill i saw the fuel pump black and knew they havent been changed.......cant believe that!!!!!!!!!!
 
hi ultra150 really happy you have finally got the problem sorted out , I have had enough of my td5 now taking back to dealer on monday as it stopped again on saturday for no apparent reason fuel tank half full, no nosie coming from fuel pump to suggest air leakage etc.just stopped put in on a test book No faults at all engineers now scratching their heads.does not always play up but revs now bouncing from 2600-2800 rpm and engine will run lumpy at tickover. but today Sunday run sweet as a nut.just cannot trust the bloddy thing no more , especially as I should be travelling up and down the country in it, I have had to arrange my work patterns so I can be more local so its not as expensive if I break down.hope someone can shrd some light on this problem.
 
jsbholden no not the codes the adjustment on the injector wer the rocker makes contact with the injector the adjustment should be one turn out and mine wer on 1. 2 turns and on a nother 1 and a half turns out they were all differant the rocker adjustment wer it makes contact with injector do you get what i mean the should line up from 1 to 5 on cam its numbered jst behind the timing chain sprocket were you line the number to the notch and then wind it all the way in and then 1 full turn out and lock it off with lock nut easy....
 
mab1 mine is bck in today they are going to sort it thank god its been diagnosed wright for once and problems will be gone hope you sort yours out
 
no new news as they havent rang me injector seals dnt take 2 days to do ?????? im thinking the worst.... head cracked and injector seals and washers not done the job
