now its like its firing on 4 or 3 cylinders missing right through the rev range im going to put a match to it ive had a gut full of it no one seems to know what the problem is im just chucking money at it and no joy....

hi again i jst cant keep up with the amount of fuel im putting in it i put ten pound in it to pop to the village and back about a mile all round there and bck and the light comes on its was never like this it was great on fuel???? any body had the same problems as me please help im going nowhere and getting nowhere....

have you checked turbo and intercooler hoses? they can delaminate inside causing air starvation, they still look normal from the outside. you have to look inside them.

are you positive it's not leaking fuel ? - have you checked the fuel cooler for leaks ?

hi it is leaking a bit back right side on engine and driping down bell housing but that surley wont cause the missing and air in fuel will it ? turbo pipes new samco ones

you say that its leaking a bit but what is it like with a bit of throttle is it then throwing it out.remember these pumps work at some pressure so if you cure the leak your mpg should return.if the landy is stressing you i find it better to leave it for a day then go back with a clear head and start with the basic's in this case its best to start with your fuel leak because either way you have got to fix the leak

Hi i have similar problem car still under warranty just got to sit back and let the dealer slowly work through it. however i have spoken to a guy named Gary at TD5alive, based in cleethorpes Have spoken to him regarding my problem fuel surging / engine miss fire ,I also am using a lot fuel.If I dont get sorted in the next 10 days Im going to get him to check it over £40 a hour but he specialises in the TD5 engine. Apparently has More diagnostic equipment for the TD5 then landrover Dealers.Sounds as if he know is stuff.
You can always ring him if you are to far away to drop your car in for him to look at,people will travel quite a distance to get his advise etc..look on website WWW.td5alive.co.uk
hope this helps.

hi its leaking when engine not running but not wen running thats wat gets me?????

and yer still wondering why it's running badly and using lots of fuel ?

your's wont be the first landy to have sprung a leak - get the leak sorted FFS

have you checked for diesel fuel in your engine oil?, check with the dipstick if you have diesel in with your oilcould be signs of a cracked cyclinder head. you have already had injector seals done.just a thought.

hi no diesel in oil checked that one to i got hold of a mirror today and started it up and checked the fuel pressure reulator and noticed its leaking quite bad so thats got to be the problem as every thing else has been done cross my fingers and hope it is will change it tomoz ...

Hi All

I am having a similar problem to ultra150, in that my disco starts to exibit a missfire between certain revs.

When I start my disco all is well for about 15 to 20 minutes, when the engine gets up to temperature. It is like someone flicking a switch and at that point the engien starts to judder like a missfire. This happens up to about 2500 rpm then seems to get better, but then I change gear and it judders til I get past 2500. Also a distinct lack of power. It has just been pressure tested and checked (not at a landy dealer nor been on the computer), injector cleaner put in and wow it goes like a bomb, but as I say when up to temp, judder and almost a limp home mode. I might try ratty's suggestion:
When you say missing like a kangaroo when hot do you mean it is actually jumping and juddering or do you mean it is like somebody is blocking and then unblocking the fuel supply so you lose power and then suddenly get it back again? If it feels like the latter, try fitting a new coolant temp sensor. Mine was faulty and instead of going into default mode it kept powering in and out at random. New one fitted (£15.88) and no probs since.
Has anyone got any suggestions, please?

Tonyone- Your problem sounds like the injector harness has oil in it, remove the the plug under the rocker cover and see if there's oil round the pins a new one will cost about 50 quid.

ultra 150- I was reading Landrover owner and in the back pages there was some one with the same trouble your having I know you can't smell diesel in the oil but have you checked/changed the injector seals and copper washers.

if you have found that the fuel pressure regulator is leaking ,this will have a large effect on your performance and general running of the engine as the pressure for your injectors to work correctly should be 4 bar constant. with the fuel regulator leaking you will be encountering surge ,What i mean by this is injectors will start firing normally ,but then the fuel pressure will not be adequate and the injectors will try and balance themselves to counter react the loss of fuel pressure.replacing the regulator you will probally find your fuel consumption will be a lot better.
My car is suffering the same problem as it missfiring had new fuel pump fitted it did make a difference but not cured it.today the engineer returned and fitted a new fuel filter (rear offside wheel).running fine since it has been fitted but will more over the next couple of days only seems to give the problem in a morning.
hope regulator sorts it out for you

hi yes thanks every one for your help it is the regulator that is at fault . how i knew the injector seals had gone was by inspecting the old fuel pump it was stained black from exhaust gasses geting in the fuel return through the injectors''' as for the miss its the air in the fuel system passing through injectors making it missfire....

injector seal and washers have been done new fuel pump fuel pipes airflow meter crank sensor ijector harness filter head filter full service oils antifreeze after all that it was the fuel pressure regulator ha i must be mad... should have checked it first never mind its like new again now...

Im happy you have finally got it sorted ,will get my fuel regulator check asap.as mine car is still playing up. happy motoring ultra 150
