Hi all,

New to this forum but hopefully someone have had a similar issue to mine.

I have a 2004 Discovery 2 Td5 19P.
Bought the car about 3weeks ago and the previous owner told me that the fuel gauge is faulty as the car runs out of fuel when the gauge goes below half. Took the pump out and tested the sender unit and it seems to be fine. Did a pressure test on the fuel pump and I am getting about 4bars when idling.

Decided to replace the fuel regulator and all O-rings and gasket.
Problem is still present, fuel is currently between a quarter and half and the car died yet again, will only start once the fuel has been filled up to above half tank.

The car does not struggle to start in the mornings or when it stood for a day or two, only when the tank goes below half.

Anyone able to shed some light?

If it has had a pump change i am sure i have read somewhere that a Defender td5 pump/ sender shows wrong at the fuel gauge on Discovery.
Edit. The sender arms are different. Check part number on the pump if you can.

Yes this is correct, I was once supplied a new pump that turned out to be for a Defender with the fuel gauge reading wrong.

Simple test, take your pump out and have a look in the tank when it is showing half full.
